    Ya had me at ‘genealogy’!
I am an amateur genealogy detective myself and my maiden name was Duffy… sold😁! Besides all that irrelevance, the true stories appear well-researched and well-narrated. Recommend!!!

    Genealogy
I found this just today … and enjoyed listening to all available episodes! I have a couple of mysteries that have me baffled in my own search. It’s nice to hear that some mysteries can be solved.

    Great Storytelling
I love the way these are structured. Historical, personal, and yet universal. Heartwarming as it is fascinating. Great show.

A well-produced and researched genealogy hunting show
This is a podcast about researching genealogy “on request”, where the creator puts out a call for challenging genealogy research questions then dives into it, recording interviews and related material during her exploration. Here are my thoughts on the various aspects of the podcast: Writing: this is the strong point. The real-life plot lines are better than most, if not all, the fiction podcasts I listen to. Duffy has a talent for putting together a coherent story and adding colorful details. Sound quality: I’d say the first episode was 5/5 and the second maybe 4.5/5, with some of the recorded interview sounding not as clear (although that might be a false impression) but still very audible. Voice work is clear and precise and background music and clips from other media are used appropriately and at reasonable volume levels. Topic: Depends. I find genealogy interesting and have engaged in it for most of my life, including researching a good chunk in Russia, so I find this very interesting. The first two episodes involved people of Jewish ancestry in Russia, and listening to the difficulties and successes was fascinating. Chemistry: Real life podcasts usually rose and fall on how well the people on them work together, and Duffy manages to get a real connection with the people she interviews. That’s some of the best parts of the show so far for me. So overall, I plan to keep listening. Very interesting!
