WwwwmmmnnInteresting...I think this group touches on some interesting abstract ideas, but the idea of arriving at objective typings of people is pretty silly. I think what this group (and other groups like them) are doing is they’re choosing to identify as certain types (however inadvertently, through having other people in the group or experts type them), and in doing so, collectively placing themselves at a particular angle through which they’re viewing the illusory form of essence. But in placing themselves collectively at the same angle and getting more and more people on board, they’re creating the illusion that essences have objective form. I think this is what people who write about spiral dynamics mean by “green” creating an “orange bubble” for certainty. That’s not to say that their take on the enneagram isn’t fascinating – but it can only ever be a partial perspective. When you type people with a system that compares them in terms of a hierarchical ordering of numbers – that sort of truth can only ever occur from an orange perspective. Truth beyond green is more subtle…it doesn’t have the form of an orange objectivist system.

Li Mo 420les go attachment typesAlexandra is like those one of those characters that show up in a later season of a TV sitcom and quickly becomes the fan favorite, there’s no imagining the gang without her. I do appreciate everyone else’s quirks and insights, I could just read a more organized summary of their thoughts online, but the group banter and chemistry is very fun to listen to. here’s to me being an attachment type forming a parasocial relationship with these broke nerds

Sage7414Not helpful to sincere discourseI have never left a bad review for a podcast before, but I was prompted to after listening to five or six episodes from Big Hormone Enneagram. I found the hosts to be arrogant, divisive, and defensive, and I feel that there was much wasted opportunity for helpful discourse. I have no problem when they disagree with internationally renowned Enneagram teachers, but but would have really appreciated the opportunity to learn from an honest, respectful conversation, which they seem unable to facilitate. My honest review? It adds nothing to the conversation and isn’t worth your time.

SarahG42047FlooredI've been reading and listening to everything I could find about the Enneagram and this podcast (group) has been the absolute best, by far! Inusive, hilarious, welcoming, direct, and best of all tons of naughty humor. The breadth of knowledge in this group is vast and it's still growing and evolving. Thank you, guys.

Tying It togetherRefreshing and authenticThis pod and group of folks is what the Enneagram world needs. They create various spaces (this pod, the Enneagrammer website, Dark Arts Academy, the Facebook, the Enneagram School, etc) that facilitate deep, spiritual engagement with material that is too often passed off as just another typology.

podcastlistener444GriftersHave some occasional good ideas but these people are really high on their own supply & so hyped up by their small group of yes-men that they are unable to absorb any criticism or alternate perspective. Talk about their haters way too often for people pretending to be above them, it reeks of insecurity. I feel bad for anyone who has paid them 100 bucks to be told they are a sx-last 6 or 9 (the only two enneagram types that exist).

jessamageeInsightful and thought provokingI am fairly new to the Enneagram world, and very grateful I found this podcast after a year of reading every book I could get my hands on. It always felt like every book or teacher would hit vague walls about concepts and I knew there was more. I first heard John speak at the Shift Enneagram Summit in 2021 and immediately bought his book that day. I actually read his book before I even knew this podcast existed. The book and the podcast had scratched that itch of diving deeper. I’m still on the winding journey of figuring out my own type and pretty sure I’ve considered almost all of them, but I find that it is a really beautiful and mind opening experience. The more I read and listen, I discover new things about myself I was never aware of. I subscribe to DAA and have enjoyed all the videos. I would like to pay for a typing eventually, I just want to enjoy this process of discovery a bit more :) thank you all!

Wow14159The Only Source I TrustI am Big Hormones number one Gen Z listener! You have to listen to this podcast if you want the best information you can get on the Enneagram. I just listen to hear David Gray’s voice.

E Maz<3Their ignorance gets in the wayI’ve been studying the enneagram for about 5 years and always enjoy good discourse. But seriously arrogance of youth and small minded ignorance is intolerable. Recently they questioned if there is a difference between Wisconsin and Ohio. I can’t take it anymore.

R3dR10tCult VibesDon’t bother with joining their toxic, cult-like Facebook group Enneagram[mer] Universe. They highly encourage members to retype others who obviously can’t type themselves. Only their members can’t type worth a hoot and are only parroting what their Enneagram masters say without actually using some common sense. I.e.- if you ask too many questions, you’re a 6; if you’re passive aggressive, you’re a 9. They are rude and mock people who they have deemed as mistyped. The Enneagrammer team themselves are arrogant and think they are the only ones who understand the Enneagram correctly. I believe they create doubt in people so they will want to get typed- can’t type people who can type themselves. There are plenty of people who believe they over type 6 & 9 and gatekeep types 4 & 5 and the sx instinct. They use being “social blind” as an excuse to be jerks and don’t actually practice growth from what I and others have noticed. Their followers send screenshots of people talking negatively about their group in other groups and send them to their masters, who kick out anyone who dares talk bad about them.

floyd dataDrink the Kool AidI’ve been listening to Enneagram podcasts for years, but this one is hands down, by far, the best. I started listening like six months ago and I don’t even listen to anything else anymore. Drink the Kool-Aid.

GhfhjbbikHate filled 4/1 jokeI was talking to a friend about deepening my understanding of the enneagram and she recommended this podcast. I clicked on the April 1 episode not realizing it was a joke but was soon overcome with a feeling of disgust when I realized they were mocking another enneagram teacher. This world is full of hate and divisiveness already, and I was shocked by the vitriol they spewed in this April Fool's episode. I won't be checking out any other episodes.

day444Great show, but promotes a predatorIn the great tradition of wannabe gurus, David Gray is a predator of young women. This show would do best do ditch him because the inevitable predatory sex scandal he will be a part of will tank them. They even joke about what a creep he is. It’s not funny.

lappel_du_vide🖤✨I’ve been studying the enneagram for over 5 years now and this is by far the best analysis of the enneagram I’ve come across. Perfect combo of intellectual discussion, sardonic takes, and good-natured jokes. It makes my 4w5 heart happy (which isn’t super easy to do 🙃)

llpylesRevolutionary, Changing My LifeThese beasts have completely gotten under my skin. I’m 51 years old and have been doing serious transformational work for 20+ years. I’ve been interested in the Enneagram but it actually hasn’t been part of my transformational journey. But now I’m learning so much in terms of my instincts, and my triple hexad-ness (married to another triple hexad). I feel such a sense of liberation, more sense of space around my ego, and more self-acceptance. I’m learning about my reactions to my partner’s reactions too and it’s deepening our relationship. He’s not a podcast listener but is reading John’s book and I’m sharing a lot with him. He’s also appreciating my sexual blindspot integration work.

inkstoryrebelWhat A Sexy TeamBy far my favorite podcast to listen to. I work in a greenhouse with plants, we put this on and vibe to it all day. I laugh, the plants laugh. I cry, the plants cry. We all swoon over David's mouth noises. I even named some of the plants after you guys so it feels like you're all right there in the greenhouse with me. Thanks guys, you're really doing the Lord's work. All hail our Lord and Savior Satan.

cc_3p_oBlew My MindSeriously love this podcast. I’ve listened to so many “christian enneagram” podcasts and definitely hit a plateau on them. Big Hormone has introduced me to so many concepts, words and theories of the enneagram that I never really knew were so important to each person’s expression of their type. I’m still trying to make sense of a lot of them, but I love learning new things and can’t wait to dig into all of this stuff! Thanks John, Emeka, Nancy and David. David, keep the mouth noises up. You’re doing us 9’s proud.

KierMcABingeable And ChallengingThis podcast has a very right-brained, artistic, and 4-heavy approach to the Enneagram. The rejection energy is strong from the 458s and the pretentiousness is strong from everyone. But you know they are having fun. They are knowledgeable about the subject and they are entertaining to listen to as an alternative to all the sanitized self-help Enneagram content that’s out there. It’s easy to get hooked into their energy.

PerfectamundoShould be Big Ego EnneagramListen with caution. Their most recent podcasts make it super clear that these guys are trapped in their egos while claiming that they are teaching for growth. Although they’re socially blind they think they can diagnose that 2/3 of the human population has 1/3 of the 9 possible “types.” They completely ignore the existence of most other theories of human development, trivialize religion if they mention it at all, and criticize other enneagram authors despite admitting during and after episodes in which they criticize those authors that they’ve never actually read their work. The Facebook group led by them is a bit like a cult, or maybe just full of groupies who are all crushing on the SX-dom members.

BinkybinkythumpInteresting buuuutHigh snobbery stuck in the mire of personality. Some fresh interpretations of the enneagram from the hosts but they seem to forget that’s all they are—interpretations. I enjoy a little trash talking but this can be taxing. I’d rather hear their insights than their insults.

Nic @ NightSome good insights; quite fixated on others’ descriptionsI appreciate any discussion surrounding the enneagram as I am fascinated by the various lenses of the personality types it highlights. Disagreement with various teachers is not uncommon, since each has a different style of presenting/interpreting the purpose of the system and the types and instincts represented within it. We all come to the table with unique life experience, so everyone will take something a little different away from it, especially something as complex as the essence of being. While this podcast offers some worthy contributions to the enneagram conversation, I find its preoccupation with disparaging other, prominent enneagram scholars to be suspect, garbling any meaningful insight among the “we are right and you are trash” vibe. I do not discount your skepticism with other enneagram approaches—we are all entitled to our own perspective. However, your podcast would be infinitely more enjoyable if you brought your “spicy takes” to the fore and actually engaged in an intellectual exchange with these enneagram authors that manifest in you such a snobbish scorn. The average listener can only expose themselves to the echo chamber of “stupid” “wrong” “misunderstood” and “ridiculous” for so long. A lot of what you are claiming is not all that far off from what other traditional enneagram teachers have written or said in books, blogs, articles, or podcasts, so I think it would be a constructive idea to invite them onto the show and have a respectful, healthy debate. Have a good week!

Gob & Buster BluthThe Chapo of Enneagram PodcastActually fun to listen to!

dogsandskinWait, what?It was funny to hear these kids try to rip apart Beatrice Chestnut and Claudio Naranjo’s work. When I heard it, I wanted to give it a shot but could tell right away it was uninformed and didn’t make sense to someone who actually read Chestnut and Naranjo, only to see a few days later in their Facebook group that John never even read the book. So now it all makes sense.🤣🤣 Also, Latinx here and hearing y’all discredit Naranjo like that did not sit well. Not surprising to hear the two white dudes take up all the space all the time. 🤷🏽♀️ Just sounds like you’re putting someone down to try to lift yourself up and it’s not cute.
-
kultivate703More. Please. What do I do now that I blew through all of y’all’s episodes? Great chemistry, and really fun. Y’all bring a refreshing perspective to the enneagram and it’s been church for me while I navigate my own journey and bring others into this obsession worthy topic. Keep doing what y’all are doing!
-
conrad boom boomThey’re pretty decentStill can’t stand any of them but they do have some insightful contributions that other enneagram podcasts miss.

NikoGreenwoodSo much yesThis crew brings both substance and essence. Between David’s smooth soothing voice, Emeka’s willingness to let it all hang out and reveal his game, John’s nerdy confidence and real experience, Nancy’s unconscious appeal and constant cringing at the guys - they balance each other out really well, and once you add in the wide variety of guests and topics… just yes, so much yes. Go ahead, binge it and then apply it. You will cringe and laugh, but you won’t regret it. This crew has revealed the fascination and fun within what seemed dry and heavy, and then shows how it’s immediately applicable to my life and relationships. I don’t think I’d have gotten as much out of my past year’s study and practice with the Enneagram system if I hadn’t found this podcast. Some other teachers might talk trash (yea, ask me what I mean about that, I was embarrassed on behalf of this “professional” who had data but didn’t seem to have lived it enough to recognize their own grasping at validation, but I digress), I still say listening to this is worth your time. Just keep in mind if you’re around other people with your earbuds in or whatever… you will laugh out loud and look like a crazy person.

Maciemooney22object relations and insights into the enneagram we need!y’all this podcast is 🔥🔥🔥 insights and specificity around what is happening in the psychological dimensions of the enneagram- I’ve learned so much from these conversations and these folx dedication to accurate descriptions of the types- hard hard truths happening! As a 9 who thought I was a 4 for four years I am so grateful to their clarifications!! the object relations stuff just brings it all home! Thank you big hormone!
-
GMarquardtNot afraid to dive into the deep waters! What I appreciate most about this podcast is that the four hosts openly and honestly discuss a variety of topics that are often glossed over in other podcasts or not addressed at all. They talk openly about their personality limitations, their own experiences with being the type they are. In doing so they describe the struggles of being a 3, 4, 8, and 9 and include others in their podcast to get perspectives from other types as well. I wait for new episodes every week, so thank you John, Emeka, David, and Nancy!!
-
MakDaddy91The intro slapsProbably the only podcast I consistently check in on for new episodes and definitely the only enneagram podcast I listen to. Besides, the intro is a bop.

sickandtired25The only Enneagram podcast you need.I recently started learning about the Enneagram and this podcast has been so helpful to me. I feel like I’m sitting around with friends listening to their discussion and it’s so much better than a teacher/student style of podcast of someone talking at you. They share their own experiences in a deep and personal way which helps bring real life applications to the concepts of the Enneagram. They also mix in some dark humor, which I really like. They call out misconceptions and I think it makes it easier to find your type and relate with how the information is presented. They’re not afraid to dig into the truly honest but painful side of the Enneagram and psychology behind it and it’s invaluable.

WildTurkey7The BestThis is by far the best enneagram content out there. I’ve been into the enneagram for about 10 years and very annoyed by the enneagram culture of the last few years. So glad I found this podcast. For anyone burnt out or disgusted by the onslaught of evangelical enneagram culture, this is the podcast for you. Even if you like the other stuff, but want to learn considerably more, this is also the podcast for you. Edit: Also need to add, David’s sultry, creamy voice and involuntary “dad noises” is what really keeps me coming back. I hope he does an audiobook.
-
Core BloomObject RelationsI highly recommend listening to the episodes about object relations with Courtney Smith. If you want to illuminate the type from within, and really empathize with the human condition for each type, these are a must. As a result, I’ll be listening to this podcast more often.

MegitaGatitaBest Enneagram podcastThese episodes are immensely insightful and also hosts are funny as hell!
-
RubAWhiIf you’re a 9, this podcast is FOR YOUThis podcast contains the most accurate descriptions and insights for 9s. If you think you’re a 9 or confused about your type, LISTEN TO THIS. It’s helped me solidify my typing as a 9 and to realize I’m not a 4 or 2. Thanks guys!

Josh LavineMy favorite Enneagram podcastThe fact that the Enneagram is not anyone’s intellectual property is a gift and a curse. The curse: anyone can write whatever they want about it. See: most #enneagram instagram posts, and find mostly regurgitated factoids that range from simplistic to inaccurate to absurd (e.g. “What kind of plant is best for your enneagram type?!”). The gift: sometimes, extremely talented, intelligent, earnest explorers advance our understanding through fresh explanations of its core truths and deep new insights. This podcast is such a gift. John, Emeka, David, and Nancy are fantastic. Their expertise is based not just on years of extensive research but on decades of personal inquiry and sincere inner work. They are simultaneously reverent and irreverent — honoring the purpose of the Enneagram to illuminate the authentic nature of our inner worlds, but doing so without pretense, affect, or bias toward positivity. They are also hilarious and grungy, and as per their theme song, they've "got a little freakiness inside." If you’re looking for amazing content that clarifies the fundamentals while pushing the envelope, you can’t do better than this.

Nick PodgurskiNice New Insights on the EnneagramBHE has the social (!) feel of podcasting while bringing depth to the insights of the Enneagram which makes it fun, entertaining, and deep all in one blast. Not something usually the feel of this sort of discussion. It goes broad, deep, colloquial, and esoteric. You're going to love it.
-
JustSomeRandomAnonOne of a Kind PodcastEvery episode I’ve listened to so far has kept me interested from beginning to end. I can’t even get through 10 minutes of other enneagram podcasts because it sounds like a dull advertisement. All of the topics they discuss are engaging and the communication is very authentic. Definitely would recommend this to anyone who is bored of the same old enneagram topics and want to try something new.
-
stephdalhNot your typical enneagram podcastI love this podcast. Instead of being preached to in a weird breathy voice (like some others I tried), it feels like hanging out with friends. I am new to learning about the enneagram so some of what they talk about is over my head, but I still enjoy listening to the discussion and have learned a lot.
