VCarducciGreat…… but.Get rid of Quinn. Nothing but negativity. Digimon needs to make money somehow , it’s not All just capitalism. Stop bashing it.

ethaNOMNOMSolid show, nostalgia & fun discussionGreat show! Appreciate y’all’s knowledge and thoughts on Adventure 2020. Some podcasting tips: as a listener, it becomes hard to listen to y’all over time when you consistently and repetitively use “anyway, so” as the transition phrase from tangents back to the main discussion. Sometimes you don’t need to use that filler to go back to the topic. Just move on. Also, let your cohosts speak more. I find that the host keeps interrupting the cohosts, and it’s nice to hear what they have to say too

A Critical TriggerAn outstanding Digimon PodcastHey-ya. GleamingGarmore here. I’m a long-time listener and I’ve come to tell you what you’re getting yourself into if you decide to listen. There’s three distinct eras of Lost In Translationmon: The Classic Era, The Audiobook Era, and The Modern Era. The Classic Era is the majority of the podcast’s backlog. The Podcast’s main host, May (a constant in all 3 Eras) guides their friend Jay (Who prior to the show was very much not a fan of digimon.) as they watch the Japanese and English dubs for every single season of digimon up through Xros Wars. The two have engaging banter back and forth. Having someone who has zero nostalgia for Digimon adds some perspective on it all. Just by discussing what does and does not work, they increased my appreciation for Digimon as a franchise. A lot is wrong with it but, it holds a lot of potential as well. Some of my favorite moments as a digimon fan come from listening to this era of the podcast and I return to it every few months. (Examples include: “Wouldn’t it be wild if Tamers was actually a universe reset by Vamdemon?” “Breath of Wyvern takes you to the moon” and truly coming to understand that Terriermon is ALWAYS inclined toward violence. Evolution just gives him the power to act and he would be unstoppable if he had a gun or knife.) I did not listen very much during the Audiobook Era. It wasn’t my cup of tea. But I CAN recommend it to anyone who is looking for audio translations of the Digimon Adventure novels. There are also a few solo episodes where May discusses things like Digimon Mobile games. I feel that May’s solo episodes are a bit more awkward because one of their strengths is bouncing off of others in conversation. (That’s no insult. I’m the same way.) The Modern Era of Lost In Translationmon begins with the release of Digimon Adventure (2020). May is joined by Stevie and Quinn from The Moncast to review every episode of the new series as they come out. The three of them interact very well with one another. You can tell they’re good friends. The fact that they’re reviewing an unfinished show means that you get to theorize along with them as well. (Also, Quinn helped me with my homework one time, which is neat)

Dark KitsunegirlGive this man a raiseI have been a fan of digimon for years, and hearing these two play off each other really is a blast. The jaded newcomer vs the nostalgia goggles veteran really is a fun contrast- and they manage to mostly keep it civil. Barring the odd justified outburst of despair over the madness and or laziness of THE SCRIPT.

Crest'O knowledgeNostalgia fixThank you so much for this podcast I just stared it and am excited for the long trek through. I am a long time fan and have always questioned the weird out of place lines. I really appreciate hearing the sub lines and learning that I was correct in feeling like things were out of place. I am a die hard dub fan but also agree with many points that you both have. I have some critics but as it is over there is no point. Thank you for dedicating the time, I tried several Digimon podcasts then settled on yours to dedicate my long drives to. I’m at episode 20 as a frame of reference.

The Time OptimistSuper-Ultimate Level Digimon PodcastLost in Translationmon is the best Digimon podcast and an incredibly interesting podcast in general. Both of the hosts have a unique dynamic and a refreshing chemistry between them. I really respect all of the hard work May puts into producing the podcast. It would have been easy for her to say she wouldn't re-record previous podcast episodes they lost due to technical difficulties. But she soldiers on and still produces content on time for people to listen to every week. May is a model of consistency and has superhuman work ethic. I also enjoy and appreciate Jay pointing out the inconsistencies and flaws in Digimon's writing. It is far from a perfect anime franchise and his voice is one that the fandom has been missing all of these years. If you are in search of a podcast that takes a critical look at Digimon, Lost in Translationmon is the one you need.

K0nlineNice to follow along!I've recently discovered how bad the dub changes were in Digimon after rewatching the movie. So it made me curious to go and rewatch the show from the beginning in JP and now I want to watch the episodes that Jay and May watch and follow along with them. There's a huge contrast between May and Jay's fandom but after listening to bits of the third episode you can tell that Digimon is digivolving on Jay. Which is pretty cool.

ishbham14Must listen to podcast for any Digimon fan.May and Jay do what most Digimon podcasts do not; they review both the original Japanese (subbed) and the english dub for all of the Digimon series. I tried listening to other Digimon podcasts, but this is the only one that stuck. The dynamics of their relationship and this show keep me coming back every week, making this show one of my favorite podcasts (not just Digimon) to listen to. Listening to this podcasts is pretty much like listening to my friends arguing about how one's favorite show isn't as good as they thought it was, but hey we all wear nostalgia goggles sometimes right? Keep up the good work May and Jay! If you want a fun weekly kick of Digimon made with a lot of thought and dedication (especially from May) definitely choose this one!

CorcottaNot enough Holydramon, but otherwise perfect.I came across this podcast a few months ago, but hadn't actually given it a listen until last week. In no time at all, I was hooked, and I've been listening nonstop on my way to and from work. Of every Digimon podcast I've heard, this is the only one that I've enjoyed the entire way through, whereas others can be a struggle to get through. The premise reminded me of a certain comic book podcast that I've never been able to enjoy no matter how hard I try, but the execution is infinitely mansplainy, and I get the sense that (Jay's less than stellar view of the series aside) the hosts genuinely enjoy what they're doing. The hosts have excellent synergy, and are endlessly entertaining. I'm only midway through Season 2 at the moment, but an episode that the hosts had to rerecord due to data loss made me so impressed by their dedication that I supported them on Patreon as soon as I got home that day. If you're into Digimon, I strongly recommend this podcast. If you're not, but can get behind general hilarity and analysis, I'd give it a shot as well. You won't be disappointed. That being said, everyone is wrong: Holydramon > Ophanimon. That's just a science fact.

Digital DragonGreat Podcast! One of the best Digimon podcasts! The two hosts, May and Jay, are very entertaining and have in depth discussion about every episode/movie. A very funny podcast that I've listened to for several months!

willy_rockRecommendation for anyone looking for a weekly Digimon fix**Lost in Translationmon** is a Digimon podcast produced in Australia that compares the differences between the original Japanese and English dubbed version of the show across all seasons. What makes it special, is that one of the hosts is a massive Digimon fan, while the other has never seen the show and watches with fresh eyes. This leads to more interesting discussion of character motivations and plot points than what would be discussed by a super-fan wearing rose-tinted glasses. This podcast is great for those looking to rewatch the series they saw as a child as well as those getting into it for the first time. The ideal way to listen is to follow along by watching the two episodes they will discuss before listening. Unlike a lot of smaller podcasts, the team behind this is dedicated despite their full-time jobs and social lives, delivering a podcast whose quality does not waver over time but shows obvious growth. I would recommend this to anyone remotely interested in Digimon.

EugeniusSaysDigi-hear? This podcast is absolutely digi-lightful!! =]If you're a Digimon fan looking for discussions of your beloved franchise with entertaining dialogue, look no further. This podcast brings together the hilarious chemistry of a die-hard Digimon fan in May and a salty tag-along that's trying to reconcile rationality with nonsensical nostalgia. As someone who grew up with the Digimon and now looks back with fond feelings of love and silliness for the franchise, I really appreciate what this podcast brings to the fandom and I would recommend anyone who enjoyed/enjoys the Digimon anime to give it a listen.

DimondmonAMAZING!!!I must say this has so far been my favorite digimon podcast. I'm also finding from listening to co-host digimon disliker, I've found their are smaller plot holes that I didn't notice from previous watching and I'm finding his side comment super funny! I also have a suggestion for I'll show you digiworld (I'm coming in late so I'm not exactly sure if you've already have done it) but you should show co-host digimon disliker the PS1 and 2 games and the rumble arena games (plus the digimon world games) (I've been noted in ep.60, YES)

DigiSmoshAlleyI LOVE THIS PODCAST!For a huge Digifan, it's hust what I need in my life. Not only dose it give me entertainment, but I learn from it too. It's great to see the contrasting newbie and old one. I love all the hard work you put in to this, and look forward for more awesome stuff!

ruberglyAirdramon is totally the bestMay and Jay are the only ones in the Digimon podcasting space who watch the sub (and do a thorough comparison of it to the English dub), which already helps them stand out. But they've also really come into their own as they've gone along, coming up with clever, funny segments. The host's dynamic of super fan v. someone who thinks Digimon is really not up to snuff is highly entertaining. Even though LiT is one of the newer Digimon podcasts, it is the one that has come out the most consistently, always digivolving, always giving its audience lots of love and care.

DaLadybugManClever and creativeThere are two draws for Lost in Translationmon. The first is that the hosts focus on the differences between the English and Japanese translations of the series. The second is that, while one host has been a fan of Digimon for years and has deep attachment to it, the other has never seen the show before. May and Jay have fantastic chemistry as hosts and provide two great different perspectives, with May's undying nostalgiac love of Digimon and Jay's unbiased cynicism towards it. While the show is too niche to appeal to those who aren't familiar with Digimon, it's a must-listen for any Digimon fan. It's informative for those who have only seen the dub and don't know how much has been changed, and between the hosts' differing opinions, listeners are sure to come to the conclusion that, while Digimon maybe isn't actually the masterpiece we thought it was, it's still okay to love it.

AntoClassicBest digimon podcastThis is the best digimon podcast that I have listened to after deciding to search for a new podcast to listen to during my work days. It has quickly become one of the podcasts I listen to each week. I feel that this podcast brings a great approach to digimon podcasting by reviewing the differences between the sub and dub. The breakdown of if the changes were actually justified or not can be interesting and leaves one to wonder why the dub writers made some changes to make characters worse then they originally were. I think that Jay not being a nostalgic fan gives him a unique and fun to listen to perspective on the series. He points out inconstancies and plot holes that some parts of the fandom aren't always quick to acknowledge. Also being a huge wrestling fan myself, I enjoy the subtle and not so subtle references to it. I especially marked out to obscure references like the awful Artist Formally Known as Goldust gimmick and Jays attempt at a Vince Russo voice. It made me happy to hear they share a lot of the same opinions on wresting as I do when it was discussed in episode 47. I.E. NXT being the superior product. All in all I like the consistent schedule and dedication the hosts have getting an episode out each week. It always delivers and finds a way to entertain. This especially shines through when they lose entire episodes and still make sure they provide content to the listeners. The show is horribly underreviewed and deserves to be the top podcast result if I search digimon in iTunes and hopefully it achieves it soon.

penguinmageDigmons everywhereI stumbled across this podcast on iTunes while I was looking for something to listen to at work and amongst all the ones I have found this is by far my favorite. I watched Digimon as a kid and was hyped for Tri and wanted to watch the original media in its raw form however I have neither the means nor time to do so. The fact that this podcast focuses on the differences between the dub and the sub has really shed some light on how much I really missed from watching only the dub (not to mention how god awful it can be-- and yet the sillyness of it I think I still enjoy). The hosts are also enjoyable as May is the avid fan and Jay is more grounded and not going in with nostalgia blinders on. His take on the series in itself is refreshing and honestly as much as I enjoy Digimon I know what it is. A marketable kid show of the late 90s. In mirror of that I also find myself getting excited with May when certain parts of the series come up in discussion. all together a well rounded and fun podcast to listen to. Look forward to future episodes and possibly watching the episodes again as I continue to truck my way through to the latest cast.

TheRealWuqinglongFantastic Digimon Podcasttl;dr Pros -Best Digimon podcast available currently -Great host dynamics -Acknowledges the greater Digimon franchise(toys, games, etc.) often -Steady release schedule -Informative about more than just the Digimon anime -Production value very good for such a young podcast Cons -No host with an advanced grasp of Japanese culture and language while dealing with a media franchise stemming from Japan in its original language Hands down the best Digimon podcast available currently. May brings the honest enthusiasm and passion Digimon fans are known for to the podcast without being cringeworthy, while Jay is asking “what’s a digmon?”, that is no typo. The contrast leads to a great dynamic for the shows stated endeavor: identifying the differences between the Japanese and American versions of the franchise’s many seasons of anime. As both hosts are neither American nor Japanese this makes them sufficiently removed from the cultures that influence each respective version of the Digimon anime they compare, and in Jay’s case there is little potential for bias for preferring one version over the other since he has no nostalgia for the franchise. Now with the Digimon anime being the focus it would be easy to assume this podcast, like so many others, falls short of addressing the larger Digimon franchise, however May’s almost frightening passion for Digimon ensures this is not the case. You will often hear reference to the games, toys, and how they relate to the anime which is refreshing in the current Digimon podcast landscape. The segments are well thought-out, the editing, while a little shaky at first, is solid, Jay’s names for things are hilarious, and the weekly release schedule makes sure you don’t have to wait too long for more. The only lacking feature of this podcast, in my opinion, is one every current Digimon Podcast is missing: a host with a proficiency in Japanese language near or at fluency and an in-depth understanding of the Japanese culture. I feel this is important in any form of entertainment that deals with content in a franchise stemming from, and for the most part constrained to, Japan as having someone of this qualification could point out and explain certain things that get lost in translation. But I digress, the podcast is fantastic and leagues more informative about the Digimon franchise as a whole compared to its peers. If you like Digimon you will surely enjoy this podcast. P.S. MC peapod is legit. P.S.S. I motion we change Parrotmon’s canon name to Sorcerorbirdmon. P.S.S.S. The icon for the podcast looks awesome. P.S.S.S.S. Props to Jay for calling Digimon’s BS. P.S.S.S.S.S. Thanks for making my long commutes bearable. P.S.S.S.S.S.S. I downloaded iTunes just to leave this review.

enchilada666Couldn't get past mid-way on the first episode here...Okay, I would really love to listen to this but the male cohost makes it incredibly difficult with his little comments and interruptions to discuss things that don't have anything to do with the show or the movie. I'd much rather listen to someone who is passionate about the topic than someone who goes "I liked the Angela anaconda segment of the movie because it had less digimon"... When the podcast is about digimon. Whines about missing Pokemon (a subpar anime-- superior in gaming perhaps, but, whatever). Very frustrating. The Stars I'll leave up for the girl leading the discussion.
