You are about to enjoy a charming theatrical performance, and, while doing so, you will learn to understand and, eventually, speak Italian. As the play unfolds, you’ll get a chance to see first hand how the language works. Plus, you will discover captivating nuances of Italian culture and experience the thrill of a theatrical performance in the language you are learning. Now, let’s take a step back and devote a few words to the format of the show. An Italian teacher, Silvia, is about to meet Connor, her new student. Connor does not speak Italian. He only knows a couple words he learned as a kid from his maternal grandparents, who, as we’ll see, are both very proud of their Sicilian heritage. Connor is really keen to start learning Italian. Why? Well, he has a special dream he wants to accomplish! The curtain is up now. Act 1 is about to begin (https://www.newsinslowitalian.com/series/guts/1/opening). Here’s Silvia and Connor, sitting in a cozy room, sipping coffee. Many colorful books are lined up on a wooden bookcase. A map of Italy hangs from the wall. Looks like a language school. Well, let’s see what happens...

It’s ok, but um… I’m learning on Duolingo and the words are different. I’m confused. A few months later… I understand now.

I am studying in Rome and this is so helpful!! It doesn't make sense for others to put bad reviews and claim that it's good fo beginners.

    Great concept
It’s nice learning as someone else is learning. Each show encourages the listener to download a work sheet to follow along. Where do you download the worksheet from?

    10/10 Recommend
Amazing, really. Of course a beginner course has English. It’s a podcast, so the only “clues” you get come from the English context around the Italian words. I love listening/learning this way!

    Too Much English
I’m studying Italian in Florence and from the first class not one word of English is allowed. The teacher speaks very slowly in Italian. Eventually, we are able to understand. Italian for Beginners may good for someone else, but not for me.

    More english than italian
It’s ok but the dialogues on English make to much confusion, still not bad , repite and pronunciation

    Loved it!
This was a great way to learn Italian! I’m only 11 years old but I am trying to learn Italian as a New Years resolution. It is such a beautiful language! It’s cool how they are acting like they are teaching someone in this podcast. I’ve never seen anyone do that before. If you are young like me and want to learn Italian I would definitely suggest listening to one of these lessons at night time🙂 Good luck😀

    SO CONFUSING
I speak Italian in a intermediate level but need refresh but your pocho way to speak mix Italian and English is WAY to confusing, they don’t realise that there is people here from another mother language than English who is trying to learn JUST Italian.

    If You Want To Learn
This pod cast is focusing on grammar and cultural. It gives a play like structure that starts from no Italian that leads to an intermediary understanding. I say do it if you want a head start.

    Lessons Temporarily Unavailable
I can't really rate this until I can listen to the podcasts. Except for lesson 1, they all say Temporarily Unavailable. What gives???
