You can watch as many documentaries as you want or love all the beautiful memorabilia, but if you listen to this weekly you really begin to understand the depths of the dead and will turn into a real deadhead. God bless John.

I just turned my barber at Tiger Barbers in CoMO onto The Professor. Made me reminisce about my early days as a new Prof at Mizzou and the first time I caught John’s Friday evening show on “the mighty fine 89”. I looked forward to my Fridays, and my graduate students were quickly baptized in tie-dye and Grateful Dead shows. Thanks Professor. Peace and Keep Truckin’.

The 60’s tapes are so potent. I have high praise for every show that steps out of the well-trodden 70’s; but, the 60’s shows give me the biggest smile…all full of rainbows and such.

Thank you to The Professor for these end of the week curated Dead sets. Always a hoot.

Love how the format is usually set one the first week and set two the next. Dig the Professor’s highlights recap at the beginning of each episode. Also appreciate the info he shares on the venue and date for context. Born in ’89 I wasn’t lucky enough to see Jerry, so I’m grateful to get to explore the Dead from ’65 through ’95 with this singular podcast. I’ve been listening in to these time capsules since 2009. The Deadpod has been there for me weekly through the bad times and the good times. Can’t thank you enough Professor!

Despite the seemingly endless catalogue of live tapes to the Dead’s name, I sometimes find it difficult to explore. I’ll find myself going to the same specific Rubin and Cherise (4-7-91) for example. This prevents that. I look forward to each new installment and have a blast with it each time. Highly recommend.

Have listened to The Professor ever since I was an undergrad at Mizzou in the mid 90s. Miss the days of hearing him on The Mighty Fine 89, KOPN, Columbia, Missouri. So happy to be able to share him with my kids now. Thanks Prof!

Love the no frills host. Gives a brief overview of the set and any little trivia items of interest and then right to the music. Also, getting to hear the style changes on certain songs over time is great with this set up where the concerts are not in order by year.

The Prof. knows his shows! Once in a while there is a dud, but 9 out of 10 times the audio showcases the Dead at their supreme finest!! Thank you Professor

Professor/John does a fantastic job of curating a high quality set week after week both in terms of audio quality and the bands playing. Even with a huge variety of options to stream the dead I never miss a Deadpod.

I love looking forward to Friday’s, because I know there will be a new episode in my feed from the Professor. His deep knowledge and deeper cuts (blemishes and all) are a highlight of my week!

I’ve been listening to this podcast since close to its inception, and I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed yet. The Professor is, simply put... the MAN. He picks out a choice set each week and gives a brief, but informative intro that gives archival information about the band and the zeitgeist of dead heads at the time of the show.
