Tanz SixfingersExcellent Whovian GoodnessWhen I first discovered there were podcasts about Doctor Who in 2020, I sampled several to see which best suited me. Who Back When, led by Ponken/Leon and a variety of cohosts, became my Go To listening pleasure whenever I was driving, working in the yard, or just cleaning in the house. They have been doing this for ten (!) years, reviewing all the televised Who there is, both classic and new Who, and more than a few Audio Who stories. I find they take a critical, yet light-hearted look at every serial or episode, and some of the best ones to listen to are the ones where the writing, acting, or prodcution values weren't up to par for Doctor Who. I like listening to them discuss the show even when their opinions don't match perfectly with mine, because we are all humans who have different opnions. The Best Thing I like about this podcast is that they read out Listener Minis, which are reviews that some of their followers have submitted. Most other podcasts I have listented to sadly don't do this, to their loss. The only negative thing I have to say about them is that the language does get rough, hence the Parental Advisory, and therefore I don't feel comfortable plying it at work or around the kids. (If you like this one as much as I do, then my second choice is New to Who, but they don't have nearly as many episodes.)

FreyjahLove this Podcast !I use to watch Dr. Who in High School. I never understood what I was watching but I liked it anyway. (That was the 1970’s) Fast forward to today and my adult daughter found this podcast and the shows and I am hooked again. This podcast helps to fill in the trivia and the plot holes. As the guys give their opinions, it gives me a better understanding of this on going awesome show. This podcast is like the icing to the cake, watch the episode and then listen to the corresponding podcast, then it all comes together. Sometimes I watch the episode again looking for and seeing the nuances that the guys from the podcast had pointed out. Keep up the good work guys it just adds to the “Coolness” that is Who .😉

100 Watt WalrusMost fun "Who" podcast, poking fun while paying homageBinged this podcast until I caught up all the way. The hosts see "Doctor Who" the same way I do: utterly fantastic in spite of its many, many, many flaws. As someone who is capable of fully enjoying the show despite almost always seeing myriad problems with every storyline, I appreciate their ability to poke fun without losing the love. I do have two beefs with Who Back When, but they won't stop me from downloading each new episode as soon as it's pushed: 1) For some reason, the show has stopped summarizing the plot as they go, instead bouncing around without any linear reference points, so listeners who haven't *seen* the episode being reviewed (which is going to be the case for a lot of Classic) can't really get much out of the review. 2) Sometimes the hosts don't seem to actually pay that much attention to the storytelling. In many episodes, at least one of them misses or misinterprets at least one plot point or other detail, and (if we're lucky) has to be corrected by a co-host. Sometimes they *all* miss major plot points, and get ranty about things they've completely misunderstood. But that's no less frustrating than most episodes of "Doctor Who" itself, and like "Doctor Who" itself, I very much enjoy Who Back When in spite of its flaws.

WWETaylor1Fantastic!I absolutely love this podcast. I do not know anyone who watches Doctor Who so it’s very lovely to listen to Who Back When’s episodes. It’s very much like hanging out with friends! I highly recommend this podcast to any fans of Doctor Who!

NewtoWhoJust what the Doctor ordered! This podcast is very well done! As a student who doesn't have a lot of time it is fun to listen to the podcast in between classes and almost feel like you watched an episode of the Doctor!

Davis676767Best Who PodcastI absolutely love this podcast, and it is the only one I listen too regularly. Unfortunately, I am behind on episodes of this Podcast and Classic Who. The most unique thing about this podcast is that they currently have a small following, so they allow people to send in their own reviews. This allows you to see each episode form many perspectives, from around the world. This podcast makes the horrible episodes (Web Planet) bearable, a and the great ones even better.

(NotTheDj) MojoKablammo! A good show! There are so freaking many Doctor Who podcasts out there, and it's mostly a wasteland of sameness. They all report the same news, do the same episode commentaries, make the same reviews and pretty much all tell the same jokes. If you're lucky the sound quality will be better than a tin cup in a toilet and sadly most of the hosts aren't nearly as entertaining as they think they are. But not Who Back When! These guys are genuinely fun AND funny - they take you along on a magic carpet ride of irreverent reviews that are guaranteed to make your smile widen and your [CENSORED] harden. Trust me - you'll never be bored listening to this podcast and FINALLY we have some hosts who understand that brevity is the essence of wit; they are long enough to satisfy (heh heh) without mercilessly jumping over that dreaded 2 hour mark (for chrissakes people in podcast land, if you think we want to listen to you pontificate about the eighth doctor's shoe laces for eight hours you need to hang up your microphone). Anyway I digress - WBW is a ton of fun and truly stands at least 3 feet above the typical Whocast, so keep listening (and to the guys, keep it up! Har har har...)

m@-chewFun, funny, fantastic. There are a lot of Doctor Who podcasts. This one is a lot of fun, especially because of the wit and enthusiasm that the hosts display. They share a play-by-play of each episode's events and have a fun time discussing every moment, both good and bad. The bad moments are critiqued in a humorous fashion, and varying opinions are entertained via listener reviews. Even though die-hard fans might take umbrage at their favorite show being poked at, at least it is done out of love and respect for this icon of U.K. Science Fiction.

SelgriA great cast with more potential. This show is fantastic, it is wonderful, it is great; it is still growing. I love FlapHammer and Ponkin's interplay, and Ponkin and JD's interplay as well. But for those who get irritated by a show stumbling along, that will happen here. Personally that rarely bothers me, as the enthusiasm of the three hosts more than make up for that. They Love Dr. Who, they are excited every time and even do their best to make a terrible serial sound funny. I cannot wait till they get to My Doctor, the fourth Doctor; Tom Baker. But for now they are tackling the daunting task of watching every single episode from way back when, 1963. Pity these boys, their love will send them down the rout of Dr. Who insanity, and we get to watch every single step of the way. Cheers boys.

ErtrovA great podcast with great potentialWhen I decided to go back and watch every episode of Doctor Who from the very beginning, I never expected to find a resource quite this useful. Being in quite the Who mood after the 50th, I tried a few DW podcasts out, but couldn't get interested in them for various reasons. Then I stumbled upon Who back When. Given my recent decision to watch all the episodes, I was incredibly excited to give it a listen. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed. Each episode of Who Back When is incredibly in-depth and entertaining. The hosts are funny, witty, and insightful, and consistently manage to point out things in the episodes that I missed when watching them for myself. The podcast has become an essential part of my Doctor Who experience, and I look forward to the next podcast episode just as much as the next episode of the show. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Ronin82xWonderful Doctor Who podcast!I was had just started my own watch of the Classic Doctor Who series when I found out about this podcast on reddit. It is one of the best, if not the very best Doctor Who podcast out there. It is funny, sincere and informative on the Classic Series. If you were interested in watching or learning about Classic Who, please listen to this podcast.

MommagameGreat idea, impressive resultI stumbled across this when scrolling over reddit's doctor who subreddit and was like,"hm, review of the old doctor to Matt smith? Might as well check it out." I have watched it and immediately fell in love. I have seen most of the new doctor and cannot find the old episodes on Netflix, so this is a relief. But I love how they review these episodes, keep it up guys
