I began attending online Samson Society meetings at the beginning of the pandemic. I found men at all stages of recovery, but we all had one thing in common. We needed connection. This has been the best part of my 25-year journey of recovery.

I was in the Sampson Society about 10 years ago. I’m in another program now (Celebrate Recovery) and these podcasts are so encouraging and add to my recovery work in that program. I connect on a deep level and always take away a truth - even if just a nugget - that helps me to love and accept myself. That’s huge. I am grateful!!

Only issue I have is that a podcast which touts the Grace of God does not give any grace to specific politicians but gives a free ride to ones that are so anti Christianity

Walking the road to recovery cannot be done alone. The guys bring insight, wisdom and often much needed humor to hard to talk about real life subjects that so many struggle with. They are in it to help others along this road and you can tell by listening that they are genuine. Oh yea, and the best music!

Excellent resource for a healing journey that we all need to be on.

No matter the topic, I always find myself engaged in the conversation and interview. As others have said, regardless of your particular struggle, I think you'll benefit from listening.

I met Nate Larkin 5 years ago and have particularly enjoyed hearing from him and the others on these podcasts. Another reviewer said that he is "...not super religious..." and that is the whole point. You don't need to be "super religious" to get something out of these podcasts you just need to be REAL. In fact it would probably be a better world if NO ONE was "Super Religious".

This podcast helped wake me up to the reality of grace.

I can't recommend these guys enough. Their ministry is helping countless men and their radio show is a hoot. It's refreshing to see men of God being authentic these days.

I love this podcast and look forward to it every week. The content and the people it has introduced me too have made a huge difference in my christian walk.

Just want to say that I enjoy listening to the conversation of authentic Christian fellowship. When I pray about what I want from a group of men, this is one of the first things I think about.

I heard Nate Larkin say that "the core of every addiction is trauma." I work as an Army Reserve Chaplain and Dept. of Veterans Affairs addiction therapist and I think this statement is very true. The Pirate Monk Podcast is a great place to hear the stories of people who have been through all types of trauma and also hear about the awesome and abounding grace of God.

Am always checking for new episodes here... So much growth in these because of the level of honesty these guys bring. Even though I'm a female I love listening to these messages of their experience, strength and hope in recovery and through Christ. The brilliant integration of recovery and the Gospel is powerful and inspires me greatly in my recovery - which I think of as taking back what the enemy has stolen, but is mine to own, thanks to Jesus- (peace, joy, freedom, self-control, love...etc). Keep em coming.. :)

I haven't attended a Samson meeting yet, but when I do, I think I will have a clue about the format and what is expected thanks to the "mini meetings" that are on each podcast. I'm reading Nate's book now. I just got it yesterday from the library and I'm about 1/2 way thru. The guests on the show are usually very interesting. I just wish the guys would get together more often and make these podcasts more frequently...but they are doing this on their own, unpaid, so that is not a reasonable expectation. I like the musical interludes too. Mondo is a good engineer.

This podcast is a beneficial tool for anyone serious about a Christian walk in this life! I pray that this will continue to grow and encourage many others!
