philozopherOne of my all time favorite podcasts!!How can the show be cancelled? The world needs more shows like this. This show has consistently lifted me up for the better part of the last couple decades… CBC what are you doing?!

aradawExcellent podcast - background music too loudThis is the best podcast on this platform. However, the background music has become too loud to the point that it’s hard to concentrate on the spoken word. Please fix it, Nora. A long time subscriber.

Marcus517Good show even with the strong left tilt, and a bit naiveYou will never ever hear anything favorable to the right on this show. Nothing on for example the cost of things to government (meaning us) the downside of single parent families, crime rate of POCs, etc. that said, what’s presented is interesting. A couple examples. Bias in machine learning was cited and showed racism. Actually, most everything covered in this show was racist (a slight exaggeration). Nothing about how ML is much easier to fix than the alternative. If a person doesn’t hire people because of racism, you can’t easily tell. However you can throw data at a machine and see the results; it won’t hide them. It’s fixable, the person isn’t (well not easily) Truckers and the surveillance society was an interesting show. And I happen to agree with the concerns of the speaker. But she and the host were terribly naive. There was nothing on how much of a problem was in trucking and all truckers (except very young ones) were noble, responsible people

Clarity 1955Nora is the BombI <3 Spark. This is a nice way to keep up with tech and trends in electronic media. So good to say she makes my day.

PalthainonInteresting stories that aren't about new gadgetsI love this podcast. I'm sick of tech podcasts that only talk about Apple, AI, or the newest phone. This is planet money for the future, with more resolutions but plenty to think about.

CaraF13Thanks for increasing my intelligence!I truly appreciate how this show can be so interesting and intelligent even to someone like me who isn't a tech expert! It was great getting a taste of knowledge from several experts in one show. Perfect length and highlighted info such as: we are flushing down the toilet vital data (literally!) and Need to retrieve and analyze it for the health of our population!

THJ NottlecanBest in its categoryI listen to dozens of podcasts every week as I walk around or travel on public transportation in New York City. Spark is the absolute best show I'm aware of from any country on the subject of developing technologies and how they interface with real life.

D PatrickSpark's got spark....I know, an obvious, completely cliched, creativity-destroying way of describing the show. But Spark does have spark - creative, insightful stories and interviews; unique perspectives exploring a world increasingly "wired" and "digital".

PamFGMakes me feel smartI absolutely love this show, and since I can't hear it on the radio here in Ohio (USA), I value being able to listen to it on via the iTunes podcast. In every episode, I learn something new about technology and culture. It's thought-provoking, informative, and entertaining.

MikeKurilkoYowza!Nora Young and her team do a wonderful job of turning what could easily be very dry material into topics that are applicable in a person's daily life. These Spark folks don't take themselves too seriously, and they seem to have fun doing their work - if this is a carefully crafted illusion, it's even more impressive. I listen to many science and technology podcasts very week (I commute 4 hours per day) and Spark is the best one - it's not even a contest if Spark is in the race. Too often all the other sci/tech podcasts come across as snooty and holier than thou - the Spark folks are real people who seem genuinely involved and interested in the technology they're discussing. I give it an A+ (and I don't mean the programming language).

StephenDedalusThis is a great podcast! This is a fun show that gives great insight into the interaction between popular culture and technology and which drives which. It is really current and topical and makes you think about the technology we touch in our daily lives and how it affects us as people. The guests are always so knowledgeable and opposing views get well represented. Nora is such a professional and isn't afraid to take risks with the topics covered. Take a listen and you will be hooked!

rodzvillaMeeting at the crossroads of technology and cultureOne of my students suggested this podcast a year or so ago. She was working in digital publishing, technological literacy and general cultural theory. This podcasts covers a wide swath of subjects and provides the reader with pieces on things that other podcasts and news shows aren't covering. While the interviews may not be always be as objective as some other programs, it doesn't bother me as much as other shows as the pieces are really designed to introduce the subject and not delve too deeply.

xobileI tell more folks about Spark than any other podcast.Spark provokes great thought through creative and lighthearted writing, research and interviews. Just listen to one.

procrastinasianGreat showI love Spark! It's thoughtful, interesting, and intelligent without being inaccessible to people who aren't tech experts or too dull for people who are. It's a great examination of they ways in which technology influences our lives.
