adele57What a load of crockThe dumbest story I have ever listened to just a story nothing more
-
KellnissSo much more than a crime storyThis podcast is more than a true crime. More than a ghost story. Spoiler Alert: The wound to me is that the man may not have been the “hero” disturbs folks more than the erasure of the woman. I would love to know more about Naomi. But she lived her story instead of creating it. I’m glad the young girl was proud to be related to her. Great story telling!

stuck in the southChef’s kissWhat an amazing twist at the end. Please we need a second season. I need to know more about the faceless woman.
-
Gretch66Excellent, start to finish!I’m a bit of a true crime podcast snob. I listened to the Season 1 in one day. It’s interesting and surprisingly touching. I wish there were more episodes. And now I mourn the end of an usually excellent podcast. Thank you.

Cat48230Wow.I am a podcast fanatic- and this is - by far - is the best podcast I’ve ever listened to. All of it. The pace, the narrative, the honesty, the self reflection…too much to list. More please.

Pinguino TuxedoFantasticExcellent work guys! I truly enjoy the story. Hope you will make more stories like this one. Bravo! 👏
-
yeuucueuPerfect Podcast!I love ghost stories and stuff about haunting along with true crime shows. This podcast is perfect! Interesting, mysterious, haunting but not dark at all. Love it! Well done!

rn4hope2Best Pod Cast EVERAll I can say is I was hanging on to every word! Kate please let Tristen do a season 2 🥹We need more Ghost Stories!
-
throwstrikesWonderful podcast! This is such a great podcast. It is very well done and kept me guessing.
-
madandnotgonnatakeitI was captivated!Listened to the entire podcast today. I couldn’t step away from it. Well told. Would love another podcast on Ghost Story!

usualfanMade me cryThe family reading the memoriam at the end…was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard

Sandie RadsI can’t stop listening!I am only just starting episode 4 after just listening to the first three and I have to add an opinion before I go on. What if Morris was hiding after hearing his sister get shot and locked himself in the bathroom and Dr. Darcy broke it down to get to him to kill him before the “suicide” not after to check on him? There are only 3 people in that home that know the truth and he’s the only one that lived through it. Anyway this podcast has me hooked, well done. I don’t want it to end.
-
TilaleighSuperb storytelling, dreading the end!I am two episodes away from the finale, not counting the “burning questions answered” episode. I am dreading the end because I’m enjoying it so much I am afraid I won’t find another one as good as this in short order! This story has captivated me. It’s perfect for spooky season if you’re also into investigative journalism/documentary. The author’s connection to it is also not only supremely unique in itself, it forces the story to be an examination of all of the characters’ potential motives, including the author himself. It’s not often a documentarian admits that along the way, and I appreciated that. I was hooked with the intro ghost stories that brought this story up in the first place, and stayed for the deep dive into these real lives and events that may or may not be connected-overall a great mystery series.

Nnoel6I don’t get the hypeIt started off great but definitely fizzled quickly. Many 5 star comments talk about how this podcast honored the forgotten woman who was murdered. All fine and well, but is that the premise you expect from a podcast that’s called “ghost story?” She’s not even the ghost in question! It’s giving bait and switch- let me hook you with this ghost story then dive into my wife’s family drama. Yawn

Cobain CarterMehThis is so boring and hard to listen to. I couldn’t get past the first 20 minutes.

jack19719Ghost StoryAn true unsung hero - love, love, love!!!

SummerOnTheAirA rich, gorgeously produced & reported seriesFirst, I’m a producer and being pushed towards a show makes me resistant to engaging with it. Within seconds of playing the podcast I was transported to a study in London on a crisp fall day, listening to a “Ghost Story.” I was hooked. The Dancy family history, interwoven with the larger historical relevance is breathtaking and inspiring. Tristan’s and Annie’s reporting, and their openness to exploring alternative methods of research are fun and fascinating. Lastly, I owe the Dancy family a debt of gratitude for letting their story be dissected and shared with the world. This series gave me a much needed respite from the 2024 Presidential Election. Thank you 🙏

aleve123SkepticalI love this show. I’m on episode 4 or 5, can’t quite remember which number, but it’s the one where they go to mediums and the last one is the soft spoken young man. He gets some important things right. And then Tristan starts getting skeptical and defensive when his assistant talks about his reactions. When he brings up the fact that he is worried that “some people, in the future, may be taken in by this” I immediately thought what his assistant thought- you’re not worried about the general public, at some future point, being lied to by a medium! We react from our own sense of self! We react with our own story of who we are! He is a rational male journalist. It’s clear he doesn’t want to experience what he just did. And when he says it feels dark or disturbing- I wish I could ask him why? People die, that’s not a scary thing. We humans have made it seem so. We are energetic electrical beings. We physically leave this earth, but we stay here- our essence and energy do. I just think that because he’s a journalist, he wants to focus on facts. And you can say that it is a fact that when we die, we don’t disappear into a void of nothing- we continue on. It isn’t scary unless you allow yourself to scared! I mean here he is, doing this whole investigation into ghosts and he’s afraid that a person who has passed on is a scary thing! He’s afraid of ghosts.

cybella5The ugly truthI haven’t finished but had to stop and share at this point I strongly feel this is more good than harm to share the truth with your daughters- before you started this, you didn’t even know the name Naomi existed in your family. It sounds like she was a strong member of your family. Would love you to continue to investigate more into her life and maybe give your family a positive strong sense of legacy pride- Albeit a different narrative than what they had with the family lies. Naomi sounds to be a strong woman ahead of her time as they say- The breadwinner who helped many families and their children. Bravo on this please keep going
-
Secka101Amazing jobWay to bring to life some amazing and wonderful family members. What an honor, thank you for sharing this story- it’s not about the murder or the ghost- it’s about the people’s lives and achievements you brought back to life and that’s an incredible journey of love. Bravo!
-
JesasketchMy thoughtsI think shows that feature any kind of "true crime" elements can get exploitative quickly, but this feels like it honors someone who had their story erased and seems to be done very responsibly and with respect for those involved. So good.

*K2099Excruciatingly BoringCouldn't even get through the first episode. How do you take a premise like this and churn out something so boring?
-
broeper1983Well done, but left me wanting moreIt’s well made. But in the end it’s not that exciting
-
quiltbuzzRiveting!I had to binge this podcast! It is amazing what Naomi had to do in death to ensure that her family remembered her and knew the amazing woman she was. May they never forget!
-
Brautigan25Great StoryReally wonderful. Hard to believe though that this guy confesses to murder in his memoirs, his letters, a phone call, and a song, and people still don’t believe he did it. Feyther only cared about his legacy; if children are part of your legacy it is easy to love them. And Feyther got his way: everyone forgot his remarkable wife and only talks about the self-possessed narcissist. Amazing how he manipulated generations, but still felt guilty enough to leave confessions all over.
-
Rach001Had me hooked from the first episode!I can’t fully express how much I appreciated this story but I truly was hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down till it was done. What a fantastic and reflective story teller.
-
Steph F BAbsolutely fantastic!Thoughtful, intriguing and tenderly done work, all well done! Binge listened to the whole thing every chance I got, and have shared this gem with everyone I know. Kudos to all involved, and many hugs to the family in navigating such a delicate journey through their own timeline.
-
WildSteeleExceptionally told!!!I was immediately hooked on this podcast. It’s the first time I created housework and laundry to do, so I can continue to listen to this story. I love Tristan’s narrative…sometimes playful and pokes fun of himself, yet intertwined with mystery and suspense. I felt the emotions of the Dancy family and their conflicted emotions they experienced having their treasured family legacy questioned. In the end, what matters is that Naomi, who was nearly forgotten in the family legacy, came to surface and the profound accomplishments she achieved ahead of her time. Bravo Tristan! By the way, my favorite part is having your talented brother in law read the bulletins…his accent and delivery sucked me in, as if it was actually Father’s voice. Amazing!
-
Lvlp billiamI couldn’t stop listeningThis show has everything I love in a story: true crime, ghosts, family drama, and London. I wish I could listen to it for the first time all over again.
-
Mojo19833BoringA total waste of time.
-
it's me opalNot enjoyable and hard to pay attention tooI tried my best to find interest in this and to actually pay attention to it, but I just couldn’t like I paid attention to it but it just never seemed interesting when I had heard the preview for it. It seemed really interesting I was kind of low-key, hoping for more of the ghost stories and less of the family drama.
-
OwleeGood work but no real story. This felt like grasping at straws. While the people themselves are compelling, it’s just loose threads behind the metaphor of a ghost story.
-
Stannis4EvaOne of the bestBeautiful, engaging, human, thoughtful and so well done. Real quality journalism and story-telling among the wasteland that is true crime podcasts.
-
nelly peaHugh Dancy dramatizing? It’s fantastic, a real Agatha Christie murder mystery with an an appearance by Dorothy Sayers?! Say no more-It’s stunning. Listen if you love historical true crime. Brilliant.
-
Dani M6929I couldn’t stop listening!I absolutely loved this podcast! From the moment I started it, I couldn’t wait to find out the next twist or what else was hiding around the corner. It is also an amazing tribute to Naomi, someone who it seems very much deserved to be recognized. Well done! 👏🏼
-
Runner0176So goodOne of my favorite podcasts ever listened to. The ending was such a good conclusion to the story. Engaging, and I loved all the players in the storytelling.
-
leia2243Excellent story!Great story and kept me very interested. However, the background music and violin was way too dramatic! Became a bit annoying.
-
PanimalAmazing podcast! Please make more. This show was so engaging and so well done. I binged the entire thing in one day. Really hoping that Tristan and Annie find another spooky story to investigate.
-
kryptosamQuite mediocreSilly journalism bringing in a psychic at the finale. Makes the whole investigation seem juvenile.
-
MissPenickIntellectual; Considerate; Well-ToldThis podcast had everything, and the hosts approached the subject with curiosity, care, and consideration. Naomi shines!!!
-
Luvpitbulls23Grade A family dramaEvery aspect of this show was top notch, but the moments of family drama (uncovered lies, family reactions, etc) had me leaning in for more! Highly recommended.
-
jeeeena19A must listenSuch an enjoyable story.. history, mystery, seances, ghosts.. I hope Kate lets Tristan make another season. Production and storytelling are excellent, truly an enjoyable series to listen to; I’m recommending this to everyone I know.
-
angiedavis 0214Nikola got it wrong!Great podcast!! There has to be more! But great story about Noami! Amazing woman during a time when women wasn’t taken seriously
-
Shopgirl Around the Corner 1Great podcast series!Such a great, well done series! Hope they make a series 2!
-
fi.flapIf we don’t get a season 2, I will haunt you and Kate myselfBest podcast I’ve listened to this year. It goes far beyond the paranormal and into the world of interpersonal relationships and connection to our ancestors.
-
Shindigs633Fine showThis is an interesting and compelling story and I was glad to get the information. It is neither a masterfully-told story nor a paragon of journalism. The ethical implications of the conflict of interest here are never fully explored. There are better shows but there are also worse shows. I would say it’s “fine.”
-
LooktouchPerfect combo of ghost story and cold caseI binged this in one long evening, and it was wonderful. The supernatural elements make the cold case story more interesting (I am not very interested in cold case stories because they’re almost always about a woman being murdered by a man) . The 11yo child in the penultimate episode is brilliant.
-
KSBFaganAnother example…Of men being trash and women being overlooked. But with a lot of other storylines, too!
