Shun does a great job of keeping the monologues interesting, concise and easy to follow. The quality of enunciation and good use of repetition and patterns helps cement information quickly. Even if you understand everything perfectly, the podcasts are enjoyable to listen to. Find it super helpful to listen, hear the vocabulary and re listen to make sure I understand the conversations. Resources in patreon are also helpful to get better.

Shun talks about a variety of topics — with a marked and preference for nature, travel and outdoor sports which I personally appreciate — using simple language, talking slowly and clearly to make himself understood for beginners. What I love most is that even on topics as mundane as “childhood”, Shun manages to say unexpected and interesting things! I would love to hear longer episodes from this podcast.

I have tired many Japanese apps, podcasts and learning tools. Genki books have really been a great style for me but I needed more listening practice to refine and hammer in my grammar and vocab. This podcast is perfect for that! He speaks clearly and at a slow enough pace for me (a beginner) to hear clearly. A lot of other similar podcasts speak English as well which is fine but I want Japanese only. Highly recommend!!

I’m somewhere in the comfortable beginner phase of Japanese and this is perfect for me! I’m able to understand 90% of it, and when I don’t I can use that to learn and grow. Shun speaks clearly and slowly enough for my brain to be able to follow along and truly comprehend. I’ll be recommending this to everyone I know who is learning!

Excellent Japanese learning podcast that seems at a perfect level for those who have worked their way through the Genki textbooks (or are currently working their way through them). Makes for excellent listening practice. Probably most suitable for those who have at least finished Genki I or equivalent.

This is such a great podcast! I am a beginner in Japanese but I sometimes understand the context of what he is saying! I still have a lot to learn and I am excited to learn using this podcast and channel! Cheers!

This podcast is produced by a Japanese teacher. It targets beginners and does it better than any other podcast I’ve listened to. The episodes are relatively short and the vocab is meant for beginners but isn’t completely dumbed down. Each episode introduces several practical words that would be useful to adults in real world situations. All the newly introduced words are translated into English at the end so you can give the episode another listen without having to look anything up. If you’re at a beginner or lower intermediate level this podcast hits just the right spot and I highly recommend it. しゅんさん、ありがとうございます！

Shun talks slow enough and uses basic vocab so i’m actually able to listen and understand. This is the first podcast I can listen to without eventually drifting off mentally. Great for a beginner like me.
