I thought applied thinking I could host a bee hive. Instead, I was drawn into nine surprisingly diverse, greatly informative, and enjoyably entertaining topics on bees. Hearing Justin and Alfredo in the first episode review Justin's path from getting bit by the bug (well, stung by bees and getting hooked) and his journey to creating a vision for "Buddha Bee Apiary" pulled me in right from the start. Though Justin's enthusiastic thumps on the desk or microphone makes you wonder what's going on at first, Alfredo's narration makes the whole experience relaxing and enjoyable. Every episode was an interview like that - very interesting, extremely informative, and unique. If you have any interest or even a mild curiosity about bees and how important and amazing they are, check out Behind the Veil. Every episode was great. PS - oh, and in case you were wondering, I thought I could host-a-hive (a fantastic service offered by Buddha Bee Apiary .com) I didn't read the not-so-fine print. They are in Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill ... um - not Connecticut (where I live.) Maybe someday I'll get down that way to check out the great work they do in person, or I'll figure out how much money it takes to get these guys to spread their wings and fly as far as CT to do some hive hosting. But they did point me to some great resources so I can eventually make the commitment to be a bee keeper. I'm definitely not wanting to become a "bee haver" as Justin describes those who didn't quite know what they were getting into.

Informative and interesting. Varied topics, but they all point to the same theme- the well being of honey bees. I wish there were a thousand episodes!

Love this podcast...Alfredo does such a great job helping you understand what it means to be a beekeeper and helps teach you new things about bees. What an inspiration whether you’re an aspiring beekeeper or been in the scene for years. I definitely find value in this and would recommend it to anyone interested in bees! As someone who has grown a love for pollinators but doesn't know much about them, I'm always stoked to see a new bee centered podcast! I can listen as I'm at work and learn with ease.

This is a great podcast, with great knowledge of Bee keeping. I live in Duluth minnesota and have yet to keep bees due to being so nervous on how and when to start, where to place them and all other insecurities I have. But, with this podcast, I’m learning so much and it’s really helping boost my confidence!

I’m not a guy that can sit around a listen to a nature podcast. Fortunately, this podcast is much more intellectual, and jovially tells the true story of the bee and what can be done to help them thrive going forward. And yes, I mean jovially. If this “novel” could have a narrator, it would be a Ryan Reynolds. It’s that entertaining.

I love this podcast!! It is a great way to learn about such a variety of topics related to bees, especially for people like myself who are not too keen on learning these things up close and personal! My only complaint is that the podcasts aren’t even longer!!! I want more bee info!!!

Just binged the whole season (with more to come). Had no idea I could love bees this much. The content is so fun and composed with top notch storytelling. The podcast host is well spoken and entertaining. I feel like we are gonna be hearing a lot more from him in the years to come. Consider me part of the hive.

Although it helps if you’re a bee enthusiast, Alfredo is so curious you can’t help but love them — even if you’re allergic to bees. The perfect podcast to listen to in-between things in your day that really makes you think, and consider taking up beekeeping or composting or something else too.

I always had a hard time finding a bee related podcast that explained topics in an approachable and exciting way like this one does. Alfredo delivers topics and stories that are extremely intriguing and in a way that non beekeepers can enjoy. Cant wait to hear the next topic and guest!!!! Bravo!!!

I’ve always heard the stories on the news about how bees are critical to our survival. It’s one of those things that’s in the back of your mind but you don’t think about it. Alfredo has an amazing ability to deliver important information in an exciting way and you can tell the passion he has for his work. The content he creates provides real insight into the apiculture world and its something I’m very excited to learn more about. 1 episode in and I can’t wait to listen to the rest!

I've always been curious about why we have to save the bees, and this podcast has been the perfect answer to my questions! It's a high-quality podcast with great transitions and storyline. Alfredo, the host, does a great job of inserting light humor into his interviews while putting the information into lamens terms. 10/10 recommend!

There’s a lot to digest about the environmental impact humans have on the world. But Alfredo’s passion and knowledge of the bee keeping community opened my eyes to a whole different side of things. I’m excited to keep up with the podcast and spread the word about the importance of bees in our ecosystem! PS- even if bees aren’t your thing (they were never mine) this is still SUCH a fun listen!

You don’t have to be a beekeeper to enjoy this podcast. I played this in the car with my friends who aren’t beekeepers and they enjoyed it too! I can’t wait for more episodes. 🙌🏼

Great stuff from Alfredo Salkeld, first time beekeeper. Sharply delivers insight with the layman about the mysterious, arcane world of beekeeping. Unexpectedly poignant at times, and engaging the whole way through, Behind the Veil is a hidden gem I’m glad I’ve found. Thanks Alfredo!
