JohnRambo218Favorite movie podcastHands down my favorite film podcast. The information is always top notch, the presentation is entertaining, and the hosts enjoy watching films and more importantly podcasting together. They are naturally warm individuals who just do a great job. Wish it was weekly! I’ll help research if you can do it weekly!!

MichaelCA1Great podcast!Love the behind the scenes info

Kir AndersRediculously delightfulThis podcast features deep dives into the process of making films and the personalities involved. The hosts find humor and joy in their topic and their love for the subject really shines through. The format is excellent and the banter between the hosts is warm and importantly, sticks to the topic at hand.

PhishyPhish80Come for the bts movie stories, stay for the laughs!I started listening to these two because of the completely engrossing and fascinating bts of these films. The stories cover many different angles, have multiple perspectives, and the chemistry between Chris and Lizzy is great! But I STAYED listening because Chris, you are freaking hilarious!! Lizzy makes me giggle at times too, but man, when Chris gets going, I can't stop laughing. Hilarious and knowledgeable pov, with just the right crunchy sprinkles of imitations and sarcasm. Keep it up gang!!!

badbih420IncredibleI love this show!! The hosts are very thorough in their research which is super interesting. Their banter is hilarious and feels organic. Please keep making episodes <3

Dfw ListenerAlways so much funThis is probably the most entertaining podcast I listen to and most of it because of the chemistry between these two best friends. On days where I’m struggling and feeling down and tired of driving Lyft but no I got to keep making money, I turned them on and they make episodes about movies that I’ve never even watched turn me on to movies that I love. Got to add using talk to text cause I’m out walking the dog late here after a long day driving.

ContrivedUserIDSo good I googled “how to review a podcast”I’ve been enjoying the show but Chris singing the shout outs after the Star is Born episode really just sealed the deal for me to finally review it. Way to hang your balls out there, my man.
-
Eleanor AragonHighly recommendThese 2 are hilarious, while still managing to keep a great, cohesive narrative. Very entertaining, engaging and informative. Great material covered. Good pacing. Just a really good, interesting podcast.
-
KeithRichardsIsGodGood PodcastI enjoy this podcast. It’s a good podcast. I am not a bot.

JenniksloaneTransgender marginalizationThis is my favorite podcast, so it pains me to lower my 5 star rating to 3. I really love the depth of research and balanced points of view from the hosts. And it’s genuinely entertaining as much as it is informative. Something I find really refreshing about Lizzie and Chris is that they don’t shy away from the difficult topics whether it’s a larger discussion, like the me too movement or Harvey Weinstein, or a brief mention like Jon Peters sexual harassment charges. Which is why it really stung in the episode on A Star Is Born, they bring up Dave Chapelle with admiration and not a single mention of his never ending transphobic rhetoric. Maybe it’s a blind spot, but considering how thorough this podcast is on all their films and the players involved in them it feels difficult to believe they weren’t aware of the controversy of the noted transphobe Dave Chapelle. So ouch. As a trans woman in this world there is no such thing as a safe space. And although I’m hoping it wasn’t their intention, Lizzie and Chris have confirmed yet another platform where trans people are marginalized, forgotten and/or ignored.

Sam from FlFavorite Podcast Full StopBy far my favorite podcast! My sister-in-law put me onto it and I have listened to every episode since. It’s become my comfort podcast at times with me re-listening episodes of some of my favorite movies. Lizzie and Chris’ chemistry is wonderful and their research is ver thorough then shared in a very easy way to comprehend and digest. Thank you both!

ironhide jazz and cliffjumperI like itIf you haven’t please cover Dragon Ball Evolution

H28koalaGreat research but one host is really annoyingThe research the two hosts undergo for each movie is impressive and I very much appreciate listening to it. I can’t say I really understand the title of this podcast because sure they talk about things that happen behind the scenes that are difficult, etc. but it really doesn’t sum up the cracks of the show so I find the title choice really perplexing. My biggest gripe with listening to this is the host Lizzie. She makes inane comments throughout the podcast that contribute nothing. And she gives a lot of really negative perspectives. I don’t mind hearing someone’s opinion, even if they disliked a movie that I liked, but I don’t want to hear her bash the movie. A recent example of this is the movie Tombstone which she spent the first 15 minutes of the podcast talking about how she disliked it and couldn’t understand the movie, etc. That podcast would’ve been so much better if she weren’t present.
-
Zduke11Awesome PremiseThese two really do their homework about the topic. Anyone can review a movie but These episodes are full of information that you wouldn’t find in one particular place. They also always give credit to their sources. A plus on their movie choices. They have something for everyone. Thanks Lizzie and Chris.

hisfooness“Can I borrow your towel, my car hit a water buffalo”I recently discovered this show and absolutely love it. It features fascinating stories about some of my favorite movies, making each episode a treat. Unlike some podcasts where hosts talk over each other, the hosts here have fantastic chemistry, and their conversation flows naturally. It’s genuinely enjoyable to listen to!
-
DollSetReally happy I found this podcastHello! Just discovered the podcast and happily burning through all the episodes. so many amazing films. Love the hosts, and looking forward to the Patreon! (Subscribing asap) Lots of love from LA ♥️

CarbonculousThe Story of Three HeroesIn a world, where people are drowning in content, gasping for the sweet air of substance, two brave hosts and their tireless producer go on a journey to save the world by creating the best podcast ever. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll sit on the edge of your seat as you listen to, “What Went Wrong”— My favorite podcast; full stop.
-
JasonMarsdenMy current addictionAs a devourer of podcasts, my new feast is What Went Wrong. As a lover of film and all the wild details that go into a production, this show supremely sates! Full stop! The show makes me want to re-visit movies I’ve loved and even dive into films I had no desire to see. Providing empathy for the process, most folk don’t know the trials that undergo a film production. Chris and Lizzy start with the inception of the idea, into pre-pro, production, post, release and sometime aftermath. You get a five course meal with this podcast. Chris and Lizzy provide a deep understanding and knowledge of this crazy business, with tremendous synergy and inclusion of the audience. Most podcast hosts will just chat, like you’re a fly on the wall. Chris and Lizzy include you in the discussion. I haven’t shut up about What Went Wrong since my partner turned me onto it and with so many great works of art to cover, I hope this show continues to flourish! - Mars

Ed VoorheesThis went right! As a life-time cinephile, and video editor, I’m a giant fan of this podcast! I love hearing the production history of all these amazing films. The detailed research and interesting and comedic storytelling is beyond anything I’ve come across on this platform. I applaud the hosts, Lizzie Bassett and Chris Winterbauer, you guys crush it every episode! When Chris says, “This is a film you’ve never heard of.”, I usually own it on DVD. Despite special features, I’d prefer Lizzie and Chris telling me how it got made. Love the podcast, great work!
-
hmtrmtI’m always entertainedI found this podcast when they did LOTR and I’ve gone all the way back to the beginning. Somehow I come away wanting to watch just about every movie they’ve covered, even the ones they didn’t like. Either way I love the inside info and the insight into how movies are made. They also have a great rapport. I don’t always agree with their take (when I’ve actually seen the movie) - for example, I thought Waterworld was fine - but I appreciate hearing the story behind these movies. I highly recommend, and I do actually encourage my friends to listen.
-
Sarah RoseberryNew fave podcast!I am new to WWW, and I am loving it. The Princess Bride episode brought me so much joy I can’t even explain. I love the way you root for the actors and creative teams, the amount of humor and laughter, the genuinely interesting information, your clear and friendly voices and so much more. It’s clear how much you love film, and it really comes through.
-
Cinehawk2049EhI listened to the first ten minutes of the Beetlejuice episode and the insight from the hosts seemed fairly basic, not entertaining, and a tad arrogant in their assessment of the script. Turned me off very quick. If you want an incredible movie podcast check out “All The Right Movies.” instead. It’s super smart, funny, and gives you the inside scoop on your favorite movies.
-
LaZoRlOvErMy favorite, full stopLong time listener, bad supporter to only review now. Lizzie and Chris have great chemistry and banter (shout out David, love you too). They’re so easy to listen to and each episode is jam packed you’d think they’re literal flies on the wall of these productions. I’ve experienced audible gasps and laughs that turned to tears and have only seen about 20% of the movies they’ve covered. But I’m here every episode on the edge of my seat for their research. Thank you Chris and Lizzie :)
-
johnnykpopsGreat Show!A joy every time I see it land in my feed! So fun and informative, one of the best podcast on films I have ever listened to. Highly recommend!!
-
GooprzgoopWhen Wrong is SO Right.Compelling hosts consistently take you on journeys through some of Hollywood’s most famous, infamous, and (at times) unknown creations. And n the most recent episode in Evil Dead…EVIL ELMO!!! Love you guys!
-
Val in AKNew Favorite!A Reddit comment about Galaxy Quest brought me to this podcast and I was delighted to find a great show with a bingeable episode history. Also, how dare you make me cry while listening to that GQ episode. Guest Paul Scheer had a great take - your format mimics DVD commentaries that are like catnip to people who want to know what happened off-screen. I must have looked like that head exploding emoji when you said that Clueless director Amy Heckerling had a kid with Harold Ramis. Bonus points for the book/article credits you cite that I am adding to my reading list. Headed to your Patreon right now. To quote Travis Birkenstock (did not know Breckin Meyer was a decent skateboarder prior to Clueless and did some of his own stunts until your ep) “Two enthusiastic thumbs up!”

ngfrhMovies are meant to entertainA movie podcast that gets the entire point of movies. And clueless does slap so hard. Also that Film Chatter dude below is the most insufferable dork of all time.
-
AjbutterfieldFun and insightfulSo glad I came to this late so I can binge the back catalogue.
-
ghutcheonmWhere have you been all my life?!?!I just started listening to y’all’s podcast last week. It’s in my ear 8hrs a day while I’m working. Just finished downloading every episode. Words can’t express how much I love y’all’s humor, knowledge and general love of movies!!!! Thank you. p.s. I cried along with y’all for Galaxy Quest.
-
SmileyG1976Charming and addictive: starting with Lizzie’s laughi usually refuse to waste precious time — neither watching bad movies nor learning about bad movies. so i appreciate that they hooked me in by educating us on GOOD movies. i know i like the podcast if after a while i even CONSIDER listening to them talk about “Aeon Flux”. both are strong and their chemistry is great, but Lizzie is especially perfect., the laughing while she’s speaking is intoxicating. both chris and lizzie economize their words, which is the most underrated asset of any podcaster. neither chris nor Lizzie ever waste a word
-
Czb123What a great find!I love how much research goes into each episode. And the presentation is always interesting and fun to listen to.
-
samm1203ExcellentHaven’t been this interested in a pod in a long time. Thx for turning me onto a lot of films I was unaware of and have discounted. Well done. (Please do not roast me)
-
coachkkirk7Addictive!!!A great friend of mine shared this podcast with me. I haven’t went back to any of my other favorites because I can’t stop trying to catch up with all the episodes. Keep it up you two! Can we get a Shawshank episode? 😉

PolyblendBest Cinema History Podcast, I Can’t Get EnoughA friend showed me this podcast about a year ago. Lizzie & Chris are so knowledgeable about the craft of making films and they add funny commentary and so much detail about how movies are made, I truly love their take on the movie industry. You can tell that they really care about how people who make movies are also people too, dealing with so much in their personal and professional lives under such pressure, it brings a depth to movies I didn’t fully understand until listening. Also way better than Unspooled where they just talk over each other and so disorganized haha. Great job guys, always excited to see new episodes.

Devin HottMy New Favorite Podcast (Weekly Episodes When?)I’m a college admissions counselor, which means I spend hundreds of hours on the road each fall. This year, a colleague of mine recommended this podcast and I have absolutely devoured every episode. I’m not a movie buff — but this podcast has given me a newfound appreciation for film and the intricacies of casting and the minutiae of taking a script to screen. Lizzie and Chris (and occasionally David and Zach Braff) are phenomenal hosts who leverage their expertise with humility, humor, and heart that keeps me coming back for more episodes.
-
All4themusicAbsurdly goodThe hosts are hilarious and insightful and provide commentary on the history and making of films with the perfect amount of humor and respect for the films and everyone involved. I’ve recommended this podcast to at least a dozen people.
-
Nikefudge23Entertaining and informativeAs a film professor I often get burnt out on entertainment that centers film. But not with this podcast! Not only is the pod a fun ride down the rabbit hole of BTS, it’s also super informative and a great tool to use in my classes when teaching about the film production process. They truly show how every movie made is a miracle. Love it!
-
caitlin4257Excellent podcast, for pros and fans!I stumbled upon this podcast based on a social media link, and I was instantly hooked. As a fan of movies, this behind-the-scenes look is super fun and informative. My partner is an indie filmmaker and he loves the insight into the industry’s past flops and favs. Great work, Chris, Lizzie and David!
-
Mike.GoBlueBig fanEnjoyable podcast. Great research and details with very listenable hosts. Always picking great films to discuss. Cheers
-
lauracondiSo so goodOne of my favorite podcasts the hosts are so likeable and not too critical and preachy it’s basically the imdb trivia section in the form of a podcast. Lots of movie podcasts out there, most of them are annoying this one is the best!
-
Jason A. BoltInvigoratingDefinitely sparks my nostalgia bone to go back and watch classics. Usually enjoying even more than the original viewing with added context and appreciation for the process of making the film. 🙌🏼
-
QueenMemphisAs if...I listen to a few horror movie podcasts but a friend at work told me about this one and I absolutely love it! Also, Clueless IS one of the greatest films ever made!
-
QBcoachblairThe bestBy far the best movie podcast. I love learning about the movies I grew up watching.
-
ninaev400One of My Favorites!I love, love, love this podcast! It has made me want to watch movies that I thought I had no interest in—and provides me with greater insights into movies that I have seen and loved, liked or even disliked. Please keep up the great work! Movies I’d love to hear about on your show: 1. Rainman 2. Meet Joe Black 3. Pillow Talk 4. It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World 5. Top Gun 6. Auntie Mame
-
JamesLLovesMoviesMy favorite podcast by a mileThis is such a great and interesting podcast. They really get into how these movies are made, they’re not just making fun of campy movies. It’s exposed me to so many films I wouldn’t have otherwise watched or enjoyed as much. My girlfriend and I love listening to episodes together and watching the movies. If you love movies please check out this great podcast.
-
TinyTim68!My new favorite thingThis podcast is great! Well researched and fun guests - give it a try.
-
kristenlavinThis *is* the podcast you're looking forAnyone can make a podcast about movies - and they do! But it's rare that anyone puts the effort into researching, or connects the dots of the story-behind-the-story as effectively as this team does. Rarer still is such well researched storytelling so emotive, for the listener as well as the storyteller. (I, too, cried during the Galaxy Quest episode! And Chris was able to make the retelling of Peter Jackson's LoTR journey as compelling as anything Tolkien himself could have written.) Perhaps its greatest strength is the impossible to fake rapport between people who have known each other a very long time. This applies not only to the hosts, but also to the editor / musical director, who is best friends with one host and married to the other. Each of them understands the best and funniest aspects of the others, including what drives the others absolutely crazy. You can't replicate that connection, and it's reflected in the finished product. It's good company — and I think ultimately, as movie goers and podcast listeners, that's what we're all looking for. Full stop.
-
Mdph1980Super fun pod, even if you haven’t seen the movies!I heard about your podcast via the Pod Meets World podcast (when Shawn Hunter recommends something my inner teenage girl follows) and have been slowly working way through your entire catalog. I started with the movies I’d seen and have now moved on to movies I haven’t (and in some case have never heard of). Chris and Lizzie have such a fun dynamic that the show is delightful even if I have no idea what they’re talking about. So five stars, highly recommend.
-
eekinhdThe BEST podcastI was skeptical given every “top-rated” podcast around is overtly political to the point it turns me off, so I turn it off. Chris & the more political, but not completely off-putting Lizzie ;) are the most entertaining podcasters streaming these days. I never knew I wanted to delve into the history of how my favorite movies are made, or hear what god-awful casting bullets, paper-thin budgets and timelines we dodge in order to enjoy our fave flicks. Now I question who wrote the script on everything. Thank you both for making me wish I’d gotten a degree in film!
