SimkhaInspirationalThis is a lovely, informative podcast that I enjoy listening to when I want a change from true crime. There are a couple glitches for me, though: the beginning editorializing doesn't seem always necessary. I understand it if there's some breaking news for or against animals/activists, but otherwise I just prefer the podcast to begin. I always fast-forward through this, and part of that may be the sound. I'm not yet caught up, but I'm currently listening to episodes from 2022, and the sound quality not good. It's too quiet. Possibly if that can be fixed, then the beginning 5-10 minutes would also be great to listen to. The other thing that makes this podcast go from "okay" to "wonderful" is just the thing that happens on any podcast that depends on the interview format: some guests/topics are just more interesting than others. That can't really be helped, I realize. But this is such a necessary and well-done podcast overall. I would love for more people to listen to this critical information, especially environmental activists who almost uniformly completely igore the impact of animal ag on climate. Super job! I am still catching up on it, but always look forward to it.

Juanita O'BrienA gem of a podcastA thoughtfully prepared and informative podcast from a beautiful soul who works so hard for the animals. Episode 48 was especially good because we see a different side of Hope as she shares the mic with her guest and husband, Cogen.

LorineNiedeckerThis Will Give You Hope!Confused by labels such as “cage-free” and “free-range”? Want to learn about carnism, speciesism, moral value, and other terms used to discuss animal ethics? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live your life as an animal in the meat or dairy industry? Are you curious about the emotional, intellectual, and social lives of farmed animals such as chickens, fish, pigs, and cows? How about looking at farmed animals through the lens of history, language, marketing, religion, or law? If any of these appeal to you, then I highly recommend Hope for the Animals. In this well-researched series, host Hope Bohanec asks excellent questions of her guests, who are experts and/or practitioners in the area they’re discussing, so you get a clear sense of the development of each topic as the show moves along. I appreciate how Bohanec poses questions that a non-specialist audience might ask. And she’s there with you to interject a brief verbal footnote here and there, so you don’t feel lost in the conversation. Don’t know what regenerative farming is? No problem: the guest defines it. A little foggy on the definition of speciesism? No worries: Bohanec reminds you. Many of the episodes are framed not, as you would expect, by a vegan or animal-rights perspective, but instead begin with the mainstream perceptions of animal agriculture that most consumers are familiar with. In other words, Hope for the Animals meets you where you are, or where most of us are: familiar with little more than the claims made by industry lobbyists and the marketing campaigns of animal agriculture. Bohanec’s guests challenge these mainstream perceptions with arguments grounded in scientific data and direct experience. But the podcast isn’t just about taking apart arguments; instead, well, there’s hope: solutions, actions to be taken with the new information you’ve been given. As a vegan and animal rights activist, I also appreciate the announcements section, which provides opportunities for connecting to communities, events, and other resources. There is no end to learning, which is sort of the spirit behind listening to podcasts. So whether you’re a vegan deeply versed in animal rights, an activist wanting to explore relationships between animal rights and other social justice issues, or just someone who wants to be more informed about their consumer choices, check out Hope for the Animals!

You HAVE to listen!Reason for Vegan SeriesThis is one of my favorite podcasts! And I wanted to highlight the Israeli Vegan Revolution episode if you’re looking for some real hope for a vegan world! And the Reason for Vegan series is a must-listen for everyone - whether you’re a seasoned vegan or a newbie. There’s so much information there to summarize the many reasons for being vegan.

Namaste KittenA Must Listen! Before listening to this podcast, I thought I knew everything there was to know about veganism. Ha ha! I always learn something new with every episode of Hope for the Animals. Even Hope, who has been vegan and an animal activist for 30 years, frequently comments that she continues to learn from the guests she interviews. This is a must listen! Hope has the perfect voice for podcasting, she’s a great interviewer, and she always has interesting guests on the show. Part of being vegan is educating others and this podcast will give you a depth of information that you can and should share with others. Listen and share this podcast with everyone you know.

NanSeaLoveA fountain of informationI fancy myself pretty knowledgeable about veganism and animal advocacy. But this podcast has proved me wrong. Hope has done an admirable job at researching her subject. She has a unique ability to back her statements with science and blend it with a heart full of compassion. She speaks passionately about the actions we need to take in order to live in a healthy and peaceful world for all sentient beings. I am looking forward to the next episode. ❤️

Greg_B_21Relevant and EnlighteningThis is an excellent podcast where every episode is filled with such educational and thought-provoking content on the animal agriculture industry! Hope both touches upon various segments of the industry for educational purposes, and also brings in guest speakers to share their experience, research, and work in that specific field. The commentary and topics are clear, to the point, and very relevant to current issues. This is an excellent podcast for anyone wanting to learn more about the animal agriculture industry, from those who are new to learning about the industry, as well as those who are looking for inspiration and ways to get more involved.

Linda middleaworthHope for the Animals PodcastsI have known Hope and her work for many years and have learned so much about the plight of animals from her podcasts as well as her events. She is an amazing advocate for all animals. I thought, since I have been vegan for 32 years that i knew just about everything but Hope teaches me some new concepts every time I hear her or one of her colleagues. Please listen to as many of her podcasts as possible as you too will be surprised at her knowledge. I especially like her work for Karen Davis of United Poultry Concerns. Chickens are not as revered as the the large mammals so people tend to not to consider their feelings and emotions as much. Since in USA, we kill one million chickens per hour, they are extremely abused, harmed and suffer egregiously. Thank you Hope for your unwavering dedication to educating the world about the plight of chickens and other animals. You are a powerful voice for all animals.

sig9girlSad truth! Well spoken!I’ve known Hope for many years, she’s a beautiful human being. I know these horrific things go on in animal agriculture, that’s why I have lived a vegan lifestyle for almost 11 years. For those listening and learning for the first time, perhaps you’ll think twice next time you have your next meal... Thank you Hope, for all you do!! 😍🐾

Aja HeislerDon’t miss this podcast! This podcast is informative for even a veteran vegan like me, focuses on the relevant policies and issues with a critical eye, and drives home the interconnectedness of veganism with so many timely and crucial issues of our time. Hope Bohanec’s podcasting debut is, not surprisingly, a must-listen for anyone interested in learning about these important issues and what can be done to protect living creatures, the environment and our health.

JackPhotoHighly recommendedWow. I’ve know about Hope Bohanec for a few years as she’s been a consistent advocate for treating all animals, especially animals we humans eat, better than society usually does. But I’d not heard her in her new “radio” incarnation. Beyond her lovely speaking voice, her intelligence, decency, passion and most of all compassion come shining through. In today's rising tide to raise awareness, it seems we all want to treat animals well, but have been raised with institutions that treat them terribly, as objects only for profit. It’s easy to become depressed, whiny and/or defeatest. Hope is none of these things; she’s consistently positive and upbeat and finds..well…hope in her podcast episodes. Highly recommended if you’re a vegan, aspire to become one, or just want to head in that direction. Feeding our minds and opening our hearts is the way back home to our childhood wonder and love for all animals, and Hope Bohanec is among those leading the way for decades.
