    Great storytelling & production
The level of research, detail, and production of this podcast is amazing. I have a hard time staying engaged with most podcasts, but not this one. I moved away from MI 5 years ago and this podcast makes me feel so connected to my Great Lakes heritage. Well done to the team and I couldn't recommend more!

    Amazing!
Points North always provides great information, interesting content, and being from the Midwest, hits home for me!

    Thank You
While I’ve lived away from the Great Lakes region longer than I lived there, it is my childhood home and holds a little piece of myself. This pod always finds a way to bring me back. I just listened to the “Some Things Never Change” episode and that little piece of myself was called. I will now make it a priority to return one day and revisit the Porcupines to stay in one of its cabins and maybe share that piece of me too. Thank you! AW Karr, Colorado Springs (LaCrescent, MN)

Fridays are better with Points North
I have been tuning in to points north for a few months now and I simply cannot get enough. They tell the best stories about the lake, the land and the people that make up this Great Lakes community. Grateful for Interlochen Public Radio for getting this quality content out!

    My Favorite Podcast
I am in fifth grade and I have been listening to Points North for about three years. My favorite podcast is “To Catch An Arsonist.” I like the mystery part of it. I recommend this podcast to other people.

    Small Stories With Big Impact
Each time I listen to an episode I find myself discovering something new in a refreshing and engaging manner. Often it is a seemingly simple insight or story that somehow continues to stick in my mind and I think about over and over. It is a beautifully produced podcast.

    Amazing find!
This is what I love about podcasts in general - you start with one and end up in another that you would have never even thought to look for. I live in Florida, so im nowhere near the Great Lakes region. Nevertheless, I find myself listening to episode after episode. I find the topics very interesting and the hosts are skilled at weaving a compelling narrative. I highly recommend it!

Just What I Was Looking For!
Discovered this podcast today, and binged it while working. Super informative, yet, easy to listen to. Keep up the great work!

    Superb storytelling
And who comes up with the ideas for the stories? The many different ways to use fish, the arsonists, the Olympian from the UP (that one made me laugh AND cry), the beleaguered tribe that can’t reclaim its land, the copper conundrum (great job capturing so many sides of that situation): such a delight! Thank you and keep up the great work!

    Love iiiit
Just found this and wish I was following from day 1. Thoughtful perspective on pertinent issues in a region generally lacking in local journalism. Thanks for your work.

    Great Lakes at its best!
Raised in MI, living in the desert now. Love to hearing stories about the Great Lakes. All things water are the best. The ‘Justice’ podcast was particularly poignant. Spent my summers on Burt Lake. Folks owned a cottage just below that little cemetery. We were fascinated and a bit spooked by the little white crosses. No fencing or markings way back then. Made for great ghosts stories but none as sad as this podcast. Really enjoy this podcast, even if heart breaking.

So good it’s not just for northern Michigan!
The stories that are featured on Points North always touch on the Great Lakes and the northern Michigan community in some way, but I it’s not just of interest to local listeners. The environmental and human interest coverage is well done, engaging, and should really be of interest to people around the country (and the world!) Storytelling this good should be shared broadly, and this podcast does that!

    Left Ohio…
… when I was 9; due to rampant layoffs within the American automotive manufacturing industry in the 80’s. Although I left many friends and family behind; Ohio has always been on my mind. Education and professional aspirations have provided me opportunity to live in different countries around the world; and to purchase a home in Ohio. Currently; my family and I live on the other side of the planet. During every evening dog walk I listen to Points North and feel longing to return to the Great Lakes area. The subject matter of your podcast resonates a deep quality and concern and desire to understand the history of people and the ecology of a region that I took for granted as a child. thank you so much for bringing a peace of our history into the listening scape and providing us all an opportunity to learn about this very diverse and amazing region.

    Great Visual
Every shows gives you a great visual and emotion of the subject! It takes you to the point of the episode with detail that is entertaining but educational. Some of the episodes tell the best story of the hottest news stories that appear, for example the Walleye Fishing Scandal. Give this show a listen! You won’t regret it!
  • KyleInTheWoods
    Little gems
Every episode is a well-crafted, fun little vignette to enter into. Love the pacing, love the stories. You can tell they put a lot of work into these. What I really like is in a way connecting to my location - where I’m actually living - and the stories of these lands, the people, the culture. Well don!

Excellently produced, educational and fun to listen to
I recently found PointsNorth after moving back to coastal WI after decades away in CA: I’ve listened to every episode and it’s helped educate and entertain me as I lean into my newfound appreciation for this region. I’ve learned so much about the natural history, environmental issues and culture via each interesting story. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in this region: this is THE podcast for all things upper Great Lakes!

    Excellent
Being from Michigan, I’m a big fan of the Great Lakes. Points North talks about the people, places, and traditions that surround those beautiful waters. When I found it I went back and listened to the entire back catalog of episodes. Now I look forward to a new one each week.
