Mostly great/not a fan of suicide jokes
Very funny show! Unfortunately, there were some jokes about suicide that pushed me away. That is mainly a reflection of my own sensitivity, as the subject of suicide has been very painful for me personally. This is really a rating of the comedy genre: It’s all fun and games until the comedian is joking for you to kill your self.

    My favorite movie podcast
"The Suspense is Killing Us" has been my go-to movie podcast for the last 3 years or so. Matt, Travis, and Emalie are a fantastic team with a natural chemistry that's just fun to listen to. Their conversations are always clear and organized, making it easy to follow along without getting lost in tangents like some other podcasts. They strike the perfect balance between being laid-back and keeping things on track. The hosts are both hilarious and knowledgeable. Even when they’re critiquing a movie they didn't like, their humor never feels mean or like it’s punching down. They manage to keep it light and funny, which makes even the bad movies sound interesting. One of the best things about this podcast is how they uncover hidden gems from the 80s and 90s. I've discovered so many great movies through their recommendations that I probably would’ve missed otherwise. Sidenote, their Sean Connery imitation – it popped up in back-to-back episodes covering "The Name of the Rose" and "Outland," was so funny that I wouldn't mind if this became an all Sean Connery movie podcast. Lastly, if you guys are taking suggestions, I’d love an all Olivier Assayas thrillers episode, covering Demonlover, Boarding Gate and Personal Shopper. You guys can call it “Olivier’s Twists.” Overall, "The Suspense is Killing Us" is a great listen. If you're into movies and want something that's both entertaining and insightful, this is the podcast for you.

    Good pod good folks
Love the SIKU gang. This is the podcast that most feels like talking about movies with friends. They’ve all seen a ton of movies and have interesting and considered opinions on them, but they’re also funny and personable and each of the hosts has a distinct taste. Their category of focus, 80s/90s/00s suspense and crime thrillers, makes for productive limitations so they have to dig deep and find some truly little-known curios that are fun to hear about, but also allows them to touch on many of the most famous works of the period. (And whatever doesn’t fit in there may be covered on their very great Patreon bonus episodes!) This is the movie podcast I’ve spent the most time listening to and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

This Review Doesn’t Need a Title. It’s Short.
They are merciless in their ridicule and belittling of movies I admire and love, yet the hosts are so funny that I can’t help but cherish every minute.

    My Favorite Movie Podcast
All three hosts are passionate and knowledgeable about movies, but aren’t working actors/critics/writers, so they’re able to give their honest opionins of movies and performances without needing to temper it for professional reasons. They’re able to provide context and fun anecdotes without ever turning it into a film history course, they focus their talk on the movies themselves (with an occasional random tangent). But mainly, the hosts are hilarious. Great banter, great references, great bits, great impressions. They also focus on suspense movies from the 80s/90s, instead of following the box office, so you don’t end up with yet another discussion of fast and the furious franchise every time another one of those comes out. Not all the movies they cover are great, but following their recs I’ve found some fun gems I wouldn’t have heard of otherwise (Road Games, Mute Witness, Red Rock West, Sea of Love). Suspense is Killing Us is also AD FREE - and they’re one of the very few podcasts I’ve supported on Patreon where the bonus content is actually worthwhile. It’s just more movie reviews, but not restrained to 80s/90s suspense movies. They’re approaching a hundred bonus episodes on Patreon, and I highly recommend supporting this small indy podcast if you enjoy hearing (hilarious) friends honestly talk about under-seen movies.

    Great show
I'm a big fan of thrillers and unfortunately "they don't make 'em like they used to". This show has been great at helping me find underrated ones, laugh at the bad ones, and generally provides an awesome discussion of this genre. I'm always saddened/worried about a host change, but the new host is awesome and fits the vibe as well. The shows great from episode one to now. Check it out! PS: Put the time of the discussion back in the episode description!

    SIKU + Wednesdays = Bearable
Thanks to the SIKU guys, I look forward to Wednesday all week. I go out at lunch, get a Dunkin Donuts cold brew, and sit in my car while listening to Kevin, Travis, and Matt talk and joke about my favorite genre. Eventually, I have to go back to work because these are long episodes, but their frequent riffs make the corporate torture actually enjoyable. My favorite bit of theirs involves the movie RED EYE and comedy marathons. I won’t spoil it, you deserve the joy in life that only comes from listening to the episode. Suffice it to say, Judy Tenuta is involved.

Great podcast that groups related titles together from the 80s and 90s by Scarecrow employees!
I love the rating system that is more nuanced then a simple star ranking. After starting my own 90s project recently their suggestions have really helped me understand film from that time. I was more of a gamer back then and a bit less of a movie person. The guys got me up to speed on some titles that I should have watched but perhaps wasn’t aware of or didn’t get around to. Also check out Suspense is Killing Us host Kevin Clarke’s YouTube movie show “Viva Physical Media” which covers a broader timeline with his co-host Emalie Soderback.

Best bad movie podcast out there
This is the best way to enjoy bad movies (and find some good ones as well). Great balance of analysis and recap so there’s no need to have seen the movies, the banter is great. I’m giving it 10 out of 10 brilliantly roasted 90s-era erotic thrillers.
  • -BrianBlake
    Hilarious and insightful
These guys are great and their guests are great. The conversation frequently goes off on hilarious tangents, but I like how they do some close readings of these movies—more movie podcasts should do that.

    One the years best
You don’t have to like 80s and 90s thrillers, and it might be better if you hate them, because this podcast shines every time they stumble upon really bad movies. This podcast has taught me that it is way more pleasurable to discuss bad movies than good movies. I feel like I should have had this epiphany a decade ago. I have piles of 80s and 90s DVD in a closet. I spent more time listening to the commentary tracks than watching the movies. All the people working on these movies are so self-serious, no matter how poorly they executed the film. Raymond Chandler says you learn more from bad art than good art. Good art doesn’t show its seams. So listening to these three guys poke holes in bad movies is a better film education than directors and screenwriters telling the viewer why they should have done something better. Also you will laugh out loud. This summer I nearly fell off a ladder while painting my house listening to this podcast. (Warning)

    Great podcast
I love love love this podcast. I want to note re Natural Born Killers. I probably heard this on the commentary track or something, I doubt I figured it out on my own. Stone described the style here as “vertical editing,” where the straightforward shots are what is happening in the real world, whereas the various other film stocks and exposures and whatnot are, for example, reflections of interior life (such as, what the character was actually thinking at that moment), or maybe memories, or maybe more of a societal or cultural thing. The movie remains amazing. So too does this podcast. Thanks guys!

    A Great Time
Come for the talk on 80s and 90s (mostly) thrillers, stay for the impressions of guys all named Dennis. One of my favorite movie podcasts. Want to know what the acerbic workers at your favorite video store talk about when you're not there? It's probably a lot like this. Funny and insightful, it's always a great time.

    Brilliant with Chemistry
The Suspense Is Killing Us is an OUTSTANDING podcast--the chemistry between the hosts breathes life into films: through banter and conversation, films are examined with a critical eye and sharp sense of humor and the results are tremendous: check out The Suspense Is Killing Us today!

Five Judds, five Douglases, and a HEY MCCLANE!
For years, some of my best friends and I have joked about the concept of “90’s thrillers.” You know, anything that came out in the wake of Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct (and including those!). The Suspense is Killing Us is a podcast tailor made for this passion. It’s also my favorite movie podcast. Kevin, Matt, and Travis are infinitely disarming. Every episode is worth it, especially when their Dennis Franz gag debuts during the De Palma two-parter. Their recent Bruce Willis episode features laugh-out-loud breakdowns of his whackadoo, pre-Pulp Fiction oeuvre and almost classic impressions of Bruno and Dennis Farina. Also make sure you hear them discuss the unsung Denzel/Lithgow action classic Ricochet with Outlaw Vern! Those bimonthly Wednesdays don’t come soon enough.

The Root Beer Schnapps of suspense movie podcasts
Lotsa larfs and sex and murder. You might know these movies but never like this. The podcast unfolds in a causal yet deeply knowledgeable manner that elicits a lot of insight as well as funny riffs about butts, pizza and sundry topics. FYI root beer schnapps is surprisingly good.
  • AlienJookBox
    Examining an Unexamined Genre
The podcasters bring a depth of knowledge and humor to a genre that no one is really exploring. (Their riff about the foot placed erotically in the crotch trope in these movies is as good as any of the big funny movie pods’, like We Hate Movies, IMO.)
  • nickname, ugh
    I love these nerds
So happy to have these guys around regularly to talk about movies I like or hate/like. Long may this podcast live!!!

    Milquetoast Wiener
At one point, I’m fairly certain I heard Matt refer to a character as a “milquetoast wiener” and if that doesn’t make you want to listen, their collective discussion of Brian De Palma’s BLOW OUT will prove that this podcast is Good with a capital G. I give it 5 Douglasses (not really but you know) and also 5 stars on ITunes.
  • Mindspray
    Their Movie Knowledge Surpasses Yours
Possibly at the expense of personal hygiene. Three wily movie mavens from the venerated Scarecrow Video (5030 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle) are your tour guides through mostly mediocre 80’s and 90’s thrillers, many of which would never get made today and shouldn’t have got made then. What sleek but empty feature will they sit through next? Black Rain? Bad Influence? Er...Palmetto? Tune in and find out.
  • Joed Out
I won't revisit "Body Double" for just anybody
...but Kevin, Travis and Matt somehow pulled it out of me, which is high praise indeed. These guys are knowledgable and hilarious, and while they have greater patience for the, shall we say, "excesses" of screenwriter Joe Ezsterhas than I do, I highly recommend this exploration of a movie genre that has been largely supplanted by television. Listening has made me realize how nostalgic for it I am.
  • posiegirl23
3 guys doing a podcast I actually want to listen to
In a world where EVERY dude has a podcast that they think is hilarious, I’d like to direct you to this one where 3 dudes are actually legit hilarious. I don’t know how they manage to talk about gross, sexist movies while not sounding gross & sexist themselves, but they do! And it’s great. Just the right amount of appreciation & apology happening here. Lean into the world of (mostly) terrible 80s & 90s thrillers with Matt, Kevin & Troy — you won’t be disappointed.
