Sam & Sierra may not be therapists, but they will tell it to you straight (even if they aren’t). Each episode, they answer listeners’ questions with compassion, radical honesty, and all the relationship advice you don’t want—but definitely need. And no, it’s not always “just break up.” (Unless you really should!)

    This podcast HEALS ME
I can only afford therapy once a week but Sam & Sierra provide the most loving, empathetic, experienced, and WISE words I always need to hear, even if the particular topic doesn’t relate to my life. I have learned SO MUCH from these two. I’ve literally written down things they’ve said and repeat them to myself. Thank ALL THE GODS for them, they make my life so much better :’) <33333

    Love!
I love this show and have been a listener since day one, I haven’t missed an episode! At this point I would love if they would talk more about their personal lives, or at least let their guards down a little because I’m invested! I always enjoy episodes where we learn more things about them that we didn’t know before, and talking through their personal struggles without so much censoring would add a little extra depth I think (but maybe that’s just my parasocial relationship with them talking lol). Anyways, they clearly work hard for this and I’m so glad they’ve kept this going!

    <3 my queer besties
I so look forward to putting on this podcast while I work, on the commute home, or when I just need some advice. I adore Sam and Sierra’s friendship and different takes on the letters. I submitted a letter and it would be awesome if they read it, but at the same time just writing it was so therapeutic. I’m doing a lot of head and heart work right now and this podcast is really helping me navigate everything. You two are beautiful humans and the space that you have created for listeners is safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental. Thank you both for this amazing podcast!

A Must for Dealing with Break-Ups
I recently got out of an 8 year relationship and engagement and was looking to find relationship podcasts to start my healing process. It’s only been a week since I started listening to “Just Break Up” and I’m completely blown away at how thoughtful every episode is. The answers from the incredibly charming hosts are both insightful and comforting. I know they’re not licensed therapists but they’ve been so helpful - even more helpful than some therapists I’ve seen. Highly, highly recommend!

    Meh
I started listening to this podcast because the topics seemed interesting and relatable . The more I listened the more I became bothered by the hosts not holding people accountable and being unrealistically positive . I do understand they have a disclaimer at the beginning stating that they are not trained mental health professionals but I think they should invite guests who are trained and are equipped with the proper skills to discuss such topics .

    Highly Recommend
I love this podcast SO much. Sam and Sierra are so kind and compassionate in their responses while also offering amazing advice. A wonderful complement to therapy!

Cool kids learn how to grow and think outside themselves
Somehow I can relate to almost every episode - I’ve been a loyal listener for about 8 months now and I just love this podcast. Thank you Sam and Sierra!

    Life changing
Salmon Sierra (iykyk) have changed my perspective on relationships and helped me so much to look internally and do the head and heart work to show up for myself and others. 5/5 recommend

    Going downhill
It used to be a great show. It’s getting exceedingly political and racist. Contrary to the name. Rarely, do they talk about breaking up, dealing with a breakup or recommend that anyone break up.

    Allllll the tools
This podcast has been incredibly helpful in reframing how I handle relationships in every category; family, friends, love and work relationships. Sam and Sierra are so comforting and provide countless tools to use in my daily life. I’ve matured so much as a person both internally (self love) and externally in how I interact with the people in my life. I’m so grateful to them. I recommend this show to everyone. Listen now and change your life!

    Life Changing
I listen to this podcast every single Monday. I started in 2020 and have covered all of the episodes, some more than once. It’s my emotional support podcast! Sam, Sierra, and everyone who has written has helped me do my own head and heart work for years now. I love y’all! ♥️

    Best podcast ever
I’m obsessed please never stop making this! So helpful and can’t even explain how much hearing the letters make me feel so much less alone, I really appreciate you guys for making this

Great advice; aren't as inclusive to disabled people as they claim
Changing my 5 star star rating from a 5 to a 2. I love sam and sierra and they have significantly impacted my life in every way (positively) with their heartfelt and true advice. I change my rating to a 2 because they are all talk but fail to show up in a meaningful way for disabled people, that's just something to keep in mind.

Reminds me to be kind to myself and others!
I love this podcast! I found them last year and would listen to them the whole time I was working. Sam and Sierra feel like your friends, and they know how to give you the tough love while still validating your feelings. Sometimes when I am feeling down, I listen to them and they cheer me up! They remind me to be kinder to myself and others and they actually taught me to be less judgmental! I have grown so much because of them and would even bring up lessons I learned from them in my therapy sessions! Would definitely recommend this podcast!

    Good &...
A good pod full of positivity and... Perpetuates compassion for the conditioning of white supremacy rather than calling out and unpacking how it shows up in them as white ppl. It is not enough to look at The Systemic, when it is we, the individuals, that perpetuate its existence in our daily lives.

Just Break Up is the best
I love Sam and Sierra. I’ve been listening to them for 3 years, they are consistently wonderful.
  • Carinne
    From an OG listener
I’ve been listening to this podcast since the very first episode and the most recent episode (186- Where are they now?) had me in tears. It brought me so much joy to hear the voices from the letters I remember Sam and Sierra reading and hear the healing that the writers clearly found over the years. It was also hilarious to hear S&S react to their own advice. 🤣
  • heydollitsmekris
    Too political
I really wanted to like this show but there’s quite a few episodes that are political and I don’t like to have that in my podcasts
  • Jeyseas
    Actually great.
Absolutely great speakers and advicers. Favorite “love” dedicated podcast I’ve listened to by real real far.

    Love love love
My favorite podcast to listen to when I need good practical advice. I love how thoughtful Sam and Sierra are when they take us through the answers to listener questions. Don’t know what I’do without these two!

    One of my very faves
Great show! Sam and Sierra share so much wisdom, have a great rapport, and always introduce me to inspiring and fresh perspectives. Love the new series of interviews with guests, too!!

    Changed my life
This podcast found me at such a serendipitous time in my life. I can say that listening to Sam and Sierra’s humble musings guided me toward the courage to cut a relationship out of my life that was no longer serving me. That being said, I recommend this even if you are in a healthy relationship or not. Even if you don’t think you’ll relate to the letter writers’ various situations, you probably will still learn something new. Sam and Sierra get to the heart of the issue. The language and tools that they use (attachment styles, abundant/scarcity mindset, etc) frequently repeat throughout their advice providing a foundation to discuss and discern all sorts of sticky situations (romantic and not!). Thank you Sam and Sierra.

    Laugh
Sierra and Sam both have lovely laughs. If I could get an mp3 of just the laughs, I would play it on repeat. Music to my ears! Listening to the podcast always makes me feel happier and more confident. Also got a letter answered and listened to the response so many times, it’s really helped me. Keep it up you two 🥰
  • NicoleR12792
    I love your smile
Sierra, I just opened my app, found the reviews and am writing all of this this simply to tell you how much I genuinely love your laugh. Don’t let 3 star person stop you from spreading your happy. -Nicole
  • helenandhenri
    Sierra’s laugh is amazing
This is my all time favorite podcast. I call it “going to church “ y’all always give the tough love or the sweet affirmation needed. Also I can’t help but laugh every time Sierra laughs 💜 her laugh is amazing.
  • emazter
Been listening for 2 years !
I’ve been listening for almost 2 years religiously! I can’t wait for Monday morning for this reason! The only thing that bothers me is the therapy jargon. For example “boundaries” “trigger” words like these that don’t actually mean anything and are really cringey. But other than that I love this podcast! Learned so much

A gym membership for your soul
This podcast has turned my perspective on life around, from initiating healing over past relationships and trauma, to being a more mindful and empathetic human being in the world. I find myself much more happy and satisfied with life thanks to them! Sam and Sierra have some of the best podcast chemistry that warms my heart to listen to every week. Also, I love both Sam’s and Sierra’s very genuine and beautiful laughs :)

    My favorite podcast
These hosts are just so kind to everyone who writes in. I love this podcast, I started listening to it when my relationship was bad and I realized that I wasn’t getting what I needed. Thank you for getting me out of mediocrity! The hosts are so helpful and I listen to this podcast as a way to relax. They have great voices, too. I’m going back and listening to the old episodes in reverse chronological order and I’m on episode #50, so it’s definitely worth binging 😅

    Just what I needed
“Just Break Up” offers the exact insight, warmth, and friendship vibes that I needed in a podcast focused on relationships and ‘head and heart work’. Discussions that Sam and Sierra (aka Salmon Sierra) have together and with guests have helped me communicate better in my own relationships, and give language to topics I’ve wanted to discuss in my own therapy journey. Love you JBU!!!
  • auntbeebuzz
    Thank you
Thank you for showing me how to understand and be accepting of others. Your podcast has opened my eyes, my mind and my heart. ♥️

Sierra and Sam have such a natural flow in their topics and convos- love the advice “identify your own red flags” lol, so true.

    Laugh
I can't handle the laugh of the girl. It is just annoying it's so fake certain name. I really wanted to see your contacts but that laugh I just can't get past it.

    Basically like therapy
Don’t worry - I also go to real therapy, but that’s just how affirming and wonderful Sam and Sierra are!
  • Samantha R. C
The best podcast I never knew I needed until I REALLY did.
I started listening to this podcast as a self help tool for myself in a toxic relationship. Sierra and Sam were the captains on my life raft and I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am without them, or this podcast. It gave me all the tools I didn’t realize I needed and all the ones I’ve been looking for my entire life. It let me leave that relationship and work on myself and I ended up finding someone that does everything to exude all the pillars that the JBU podcast stands on. I don’t even listen on Apple podcasts, but if one show deserves a five star review, it is this. I could never thank you guys enough.
