I’ve been listening for years and still look forward to every episode. Thank you! May I make a small suggestion? Please give an indication before an ad break. The transitions have been absolutely wild lately. JG will be talking about kids dying and Kat will reply that she has trouble paying attention. Wait what? Oh, it’s an ad.

I’ve listened to The Box of Oddities for a couple of years now. If you are looking for a funny, interesting and weird podcast I would definitely recommend this one! I never miss an episode.

If you like weird stories you’ll like this podcast. As others have said the ad breaks are long so the content is short. So, if you’re looking for a bite-sized show, this is a great one. I don’t get the hate for Kat at all. She’s goofy and sweet and the whole point is for them to interrupt each other and play off one another. They have great chemistry! I started from the beginning and I will say there are a few problematic things they say but as it’s moved on they seem to be becoming more aware and educated. Love this journey for them! The only real gripe I have to pick with them is that they repeat stories. I’ve heard the same story twice from them a few times since starting. And it takes me out of it because the other always acts like they’ve never heard it before. Maybe they get a little more organized and do a catalogue of the boxes later? Still great storytelling tho!

My daughter was caught up within a few months of listening and I’m finally to November 2023. A friend told me about this podcast. I listened to one episode and was immediately hooked. I’ve started at the beginning and making my way through them all.

Fun banter, interesting and freaky stories, and warm, personable hosts. One of my very favorite shows!

Kat and JG are so enjoyable. I learn things and love the banter. They have made their followers a part of their lives. If you just want information presented matter-of-factly, this isn’t for you. If you want to enjoy and feel vested in the show, this is the show for you. Jump right in to the freak pool.

I just submitted my review and realized that I didn’t get the title in the right place. I neglected to tell you folks something rather important to: I’m legally blind, so doing anything on my phone is a real crapshoot. And obviously I didn’t do the last review correctly. So let me just repeat myself, I think Kat and JG are wonderful people. I wish they were my best friends and then I could hang out with them all the time. My love of true crime podcast is one thing, but it’s balanced by my love for “The Box of Oddities.“

I started from the beginning with this show. Even bought a T shirt. Found Kat slightly annoying at first, but then couldn’t take her anymore. I would skip through her stories and suffer through her CONSTANT interruptions until I had to just unfollow and use my t shirt as a toilet rag. I tried to revisit recently to the latest show and couldn’t believe she was worse than before. Didn’t think that was possible.

Have listened to every single episode and will probably do it again. I hoard new BoO episodes like a miser so I can listen to them when I’m going to get the absolute most enjoyment. Kat & JG are amazing humans with the best kid of humor. BoO is absolutely one of my most favorite podcasts ever!

The chemistry between them is awesome! They are funny and don’t miss a beat !

I have listened to the Box of Oddities for a while. Back in times immemorial, I even recommended it to friends. Initially, the quirky banter between the hosts entertained me. When I realized the entertainment was cognitively related to distant memories of my my grandparents bickering during their habitual evening cribbage tourneys, it made things different somehow. This realization felt like a light switch was turned on. My first illuminated vision regarding this podcast was surrounding the masked cultural insensitivity. On the surface it seems like the hosts try to present the topic in an informative way, yet it is called “the Box of Oddities”. It feels like the consumer is being told “look how weird that culture is”. Something else that became glaringly obvious was the ratio of content to commercials. Nowadays, I begin by fast forwarding 5 minutes at the beginning of each episode, then I fast forward 5 minutes again in the middle. This ratio of commercials to content feels exceedingly capitalistic. The “thing in the middle” lost its value. Finally, one has to ponder the state of mind of the hosts. They initially moved from Maine to Florida. Now they left the United States. Perhaps they should be looking inward every time they feel the need to move. One can not deny JG’s ability to spin a yarn, that much is certain.

So I put off listening to this podcast for about five years only listening to about one a year but then I realize how really good it actually is and now I’m binge listening one after another starting from the beginning.

I love you guys. I am so sorry about your pup that had to be re homed. It is so heartbreaking. We are looking for a rescue that can live with two cats. Wish us luck. 🐈‍⬛❤️😊🐶 I will be listening to every episode. Thank you! Carol in USA.

I just love the social commentary that Kat and Jethro spiel throughout the universe. They take fantastic, unusual and sometimes depressing news, facts, history or observations and make them interesting, entertaining and fun to listen to and , unfortunately educational,….I'm an old , retired man, I don’t want to learn anything anymore! I’m too cynical as I am! But ya’ll always bring a smile to my face. That’s something I usually have to pay extra for. So keep up the good work!

I just found the podcast and have been listening so I’m only up to July 2018 but I LOVE this show. I’m pretty sure I want my husband and me to be Jethro and Kats new bffs! I’m totally digging them! Great show!

Within five minutes of my first time listen, I was home. Kat and JG feel like my people- and everyone needs more people. The very first story I listened to was a super disturbing survival story and hey, I’m still here. Looking forward to more. Xoxo
