    Great
Listening to for 10 years, what I have learned from this podcast is invaluable. I appreciate the contrarian point of views to the “conventional of wisdom” in the business world!

    Bonus episode 436
Greg’s comment at about 5:10 of bonus episode 436 available to Patreon subscribers about potentially “giving websites away for free” reminds me of my reflections on mid-market ERP implementation projects. In our case, both the customer’s transformation and their maximum potential lifetime value depend on an upgrade to Sage Intacct. I did not expect Joe Pine’s episode to be one to which I’d listen twice, but I think I’m about to queue it up again. Thank you for the good work, Brian

    Obnoxiously arrogant
I have read a few of Ron Baker’s books over the past 15 years. They started out having great ideas and I’ve implemented some of them. But over the years he’s become arrogant and spends more time bashing other models than providing real-life implementation ideas. I bought his latest book Time’s Up and immediately returned it. It was full of high-level concepts that were meaningless in practice. I discovered this podcast and decided to give it a try. On the one episode I listed to, Ed and Ron spent half the show bashing others and other theories and providing little value. It was like listening to a politician telling us what’s wrong with everyone else but providing no solutions. They were arrogant and obnoxious. I’m not sure how people like these two guys.

Excellent and well thought out content and interviews!
Excellent podcast- knowing Ed personally he is always insightful and found him to be a deep thinker. This seems to be a good pairing and this is definitely worth a listen on the drive home!

My most important source of new ideas
Full disclosure. I have been a guest on the podcast. Value can be defined as how something is better with you or how it would be worse without you. I’m a much better business person having become a fan of this show. As a professor, researcher, and consultant, TSOE is my primary source of new and innovative ideas. It’s the ONLY podcast I listen to with any regularity and that I will go out of my way for. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who doesn’t thrive on the status quo.

Put 2 Kids Thru College With This Knowledge
I embraced the concepts around fixed pricing and how they can apply to consulting. For years I only half heartedly believed these “concepts” until I actually put them into practice. Cut my number of customers in half. Doubled my income. When Ed and Ron talk I listen. Closely.

The brilliance of Ron’s mind, weekly!
I have been a huge fan of Ron’s books for decades. The knowledge from his books have literally earned me millions of dollars in additional revenue. I don’t know why, but I just realized that Ron has a podcast! I just finished the first episode and this is now my favorite podcast. I am sooo excited to have nearly 7 years of episodes to “binge listen”. Not to have Ed feel left out...Ed, you do a great job as well. And the banter between you and Ron is terrific!

Best Podcast for Professional Knowledge Workers
If you made it this far, then congratulations! You’ve discovered the Fountain of Truth! Seriously, Ron and Ed are able to distill and synthesize a body of knowledge that extends beyond the disciplines and time (wink). I now find myself listening and re-listening to the archives, and taking notes on every juicy bit of valuable knowledge they so graciously share.

    A MUST listen every week
Ed and Ron are some of the deepest thinkers about business and the knowledge economy around. Every episode contains at least one mind-blowing takeaway and I’ve found myself continually refreshing my podcast app on Friday afternoon for the new episode. I only gave them 5 stars because the app won’t let me give them 6. Thanks for the great content and keep up the good work!

    Too many commercials
I had heard someone recommend Ron Baker, and I found this podcast because his name was on it. I was listening to the podcast when a voice said something like, “Have you ever stopped listening to a podcast because it had too many commercials? Of course not because you’re here right now. ” I didn’t like how many ads there were in the first place, but something about that kind of disrespect of the listener that made me want not only to stop listening but let the author know how terrible it is with a full review. I’m sure Ron Baker produces excellent content, and it seems like plenty of people enjoy this podcast, but I’m not going be listening to it.

    Soul of Enterprise
Have you ever listen to a podcast twice? I have, but have you ever listen The Soul of Enterprise twice? Many times. Listen, learn, and enjoy. Thanks Ron and Ed for have a great conversation that’s worth listening to twice.

    Moving from bookkeeper to consultant
I’ve been listening for a couple of months to Ron and Ed on my daily walks. These podcasts are part of my curriculum as I make my transition from providing bookkeeping services to controller/consulting services. I appreciate their insight into the many ways that technology continues to change our lives and professions. It helps me figure out how to adapt in my profession. Hearing their opinions on our political environment is of great interest to me as well. I also enjoy the banter between these two guys. I am often laughing out loud as I walk around town. My family knows you both by name now as I often share some of your stories. This show is both educational and entertaining. Looking forward to listening to the archives.

    Very Excellent
I enjoy The Soul of Enterprise and highly recommend to those who want to have a deeper understanding of business and economics. Ed and Ron are very talented communicators and it is with great pleasure that I can listen either live on Friday afternoons or through one of the recorded episodes. I highly recommend this show for any bookkeeper or accounting professional who is looking to deliver the highest value to their customers.. Thank you guys, I've learned a ton from this show!

    Great Range for a podcast
From Peter Drucker to Fr. Sirico to George Gilder and many others, there is something to learn from every single podcast. I'm late to the party and have started at the beginning - the Goldilocks pricing strategy has already paid off!
  • Mark Stiving
    Interesting and thought provoking
TSOE is one of my favorite podcasts. Ron and Ed tackle many different business topics, always from a unique perspective. They do their research and apply what they learn using their own mental frameworks. Well, we all do that, but their frameworks are fascinating. Listen with curiousity and you will surely learn a ton.

    When in Bora Bora
About a year ago, I stated listening to the Soul of Enterprise. I started listening on the way to the Expensicon conference in Bora Bora. One morning I happen to sit down with Greg LaFollette for breakfast. You know what we talked about? The Soul of Enterprise podcast. If you’re a forward thinking accountant or business professional, this is an entertaining as well as enlightening podcast. My favorite episode is Laws of Systems thinking. That episode has saved my company piles of money.

    Refreshingly Original.
As a newly minted accounting graduate, it’s hard enough to keep up with the learning curve of entering public accounting, let alone get ahead of it. Not only Ron and Ed discuss topics you’ll rarely hear around the office, but their focus on mentorship and thinking beyond conventional wisdom is refreshingly original. I highly recommend this to to any young professional!

    Valuable information and common sense
I’m a tradesperson and small business owner, so maybe I’m not the typical listener here but I really love the show. I was searching for podcasts about customer service and efficiency and had the fantastic luck to find this gem! They had me at the Reagan intro but key with topics like value pricing and ridiculousness of Tarrifs. Ron and Ed have taught me lot about how our economy works, not just for Wall Street but also for small-town Main Street. Common sense is something that’s severely lacking in many of our political leaders, we’d all benefit if some of those guys would give a listen here!

You had me at Tim Williams
Ron and Ed have a great approach to economics in a way that makes the concepts approachable and understandable. Their guests and book reviews are invaluable to the busy professional. Thanks guys! Dan C

Great podcast covering Accounting and economics, what can be better? Also the only podcast that I trust regarding current events in this political climate. @jacoboberlander, CPA

    MUST listen business podcast!
I’m an avid consumer of business and knowledge podcasts and this is hands-down one of the best podcasts out there. Particularly if you are a service or knowledge professional, but also just for anyone who wants to understand the world better, Ed and Ron’s topics and commentary are powerful and actionable. I cannot overstate the value they have brought to my bookkeeping and accounting business and intellectual growth. This and The Knowledge Podcast by Farnam Street are the only podcasts that I have listened to every episode, and many more than once. MUST LISTEN!!! -We Live to Serve, Keith @welivetoserve

Taking Down Trickle Down / and MANY others
This review is way (WAY) past due. In the interest of full disclosure I must first tell you that Ron & Ed are both long time friends of mine. So there's that. But --- friendship aside, I will tell you that I consure a LOT of information via podcasts and my subscriptions often outstrip my available time to listen. When that happens, something has to give. Here's the essence of my review: when something has to give, it is never, NEVER, TSOE. I may get behind a week or two occassionally but I always listen to every episode. These guys are smart, witty, have amazing domain knowledge, and are genuinely interested in improving the human condition --- well, at least the professional services part of the human condition. Whether it's emerging technology, value creation, pricing, the (dreaded) billable hour, or some fascinating tangent the show is always entertaining and enlightening. [NOTE: Except when Ed talks baseball -- then it's lights out for the rest of that episone! Keep up the great work gentlemen. You are deeply appreciated. gll

    Great content, entertaining delivery
These guys have great practical insight, refreshing they do it with humility, humor and practical experience. I even applied to my own business b/c what and how they explained was easy to digest. Great podcast.

    Modern Sales Training
This podcast has been a great way to continue to drip the ideas and methods of value pricing into my daily work habits. I run an eCommerce software agency, and my business partner, our Sales Director, and I share our sales and business development workload. Many episodes of this podcast have been shared between the 3 of us as we continue to work hard to develop our skills as pricers within the value pricing model. We're about 3 years in and getting better with every customer interaction. I also appreciate the Free Rider Friday segments. They're a refreshing break from the deep value concepts, and also provide some excellent annecdotes from the present. Keep it up guys. Great stuff.

    Thought Provoking
TSoE is in a world of its own. A true look at real world questions and theories existing in our world today. Ed and Ron are the perfect match to keep you engaged and coming back for more every week. I highly recommend everybody to experience The Sould of Enterprise podcast. By adding this to your listening routine you will expand and challenge the norm of our thinking in today's society. Keep up the great work guys!

    Fantastic!
Always a learning experience! Never left an episode without thinking about what was talked about.

    Paradigm-shifting camraderie
I thought this podcast was going to be two ivory-tower, automaton-sounding economists discussing how many angels it will take to run a big enterprise. But they have warmly shifted the way my mind works when it comes both to my little online business and freelancing, and to larger economies. And it has made us much more profitable. Can't wait to pass this wisdom on to my kids. If you love Freakonomics Radio, you will love this podcast. Thanks Ron and Ed! (by B.J. Lee)

    Always Thought Provoking
I always learn something new on this podcast. Ron and Ed bring in fascinating guests with interesting points of view. Yes, they are opinionated, but they are firmly committed to the survival of accounting and business advisory work as viable careers. The world is changing and so must we if we are to continue providing value.

    Great Podcast
I first encountered Ron Baker when I read Firm of The Future years ago--one of the best books I've ever read. And how did I miss this podcast until just recently. Love it. I've been through about 13 or so episodes and plan to get through the rest as quickly as possible. Also, you know a podcast is great when 1) you go through one episode a second time, and 2) you take notes if you can do so. Check on both accounts. Ron and Ed together make a great team. And both are great interviewers. Great examples include the episode with Dr. Thomas Sowell, #25, Dan Ariely, #43, and Joseph Pine, #34. In all cases, I wish the conversations would keep going. Are you new listener? By all means, make sure you listen to the first 4 going back to 2014. The two-part series on Top 10 Business Myths is outstanding, episodes 13 and 14. And if you've never read any of Ron's books, do not skip #15 on After Action Reviews. Ed, keep dropping those baseball nuggets--the one on missing a HR by inches is classic. Joe Polish and Dan Sullivan, sorry. You need to move over. The Soul of Enterprise is now my favorite podcast. Ron and Ed, keep reading, keep leading, keep talking. Mark Gandy

    Warning: Great Ideas Found Here
If you are satisfied with the status quo, then you may want to skip the Soul of Enterprise. If not, you are at the right place to learn from two of the most dynamic and knowledgeable thought leaders in professional knowledge/relationship firms. Of course they go well beyond firms while addressing business, futuristic thinking and personal improvement. Playing on same field with Ron and Ed isn't easy, but their guests are top-notch and push every discussion forward. If you like to challenge yourself, this is a must listen.

    Pricing Director
Ron and Ed provide first rate guests and insightful commentary on doing business in the knowledge economy. As a pricing director at a large law firm, the episodes that touch on value based pricing have been particularly thought provoking. This is a must-listen for anyone marketing and innovating professional services.

Have you ever felt out into the woods as the only person thinking differently than others? I sure have - until I found this podcast. Finally, a place where supremely intelligent people gather to discuss great ideas. Ed and Ron not only are great minds, they are fun to listen to! Nothing boring about them! I feel like I'm part of their "inner circle" just by listening. This Podcast is full of meat - no fluff. It's an hour jam-packed each week with great guests, great ideas and topics that make you say, "Oh yea!" Don't miss and episode.

Best Business Podcast on the interwebs
I have listened to a lot of podcasts in the last 10 years. The Soul of Enterprise tops my list. Ed and Ron bring great content and storytelling to a genre that tends to be on the dull side. Keep up the great work guys.
  • Jonathan in Pharma
    Excellent and insightful
Ed and Ron present interesting topics each week from which I take something away each listen. They distill social and economic issues, almost always circling back to value. Always worth the listen. I work in process improvement in the Pharma, with no accounting or financial education, and find the value philosophy fascinating. No matter your industry, you can learn from Ed and Ron.

Used Ron's words just today when a value based invoice was challenged. "Because knowledge work is defined by quality and results"

An Infusion Of Great Business Wisdom
I have entered my first truly entrepreneurial attempt at creating my own business, and this podcast has provided me so many great tools and ideas as to how to run it. And beyond the concrete methods I will be utilizing, this fantastic podcast has helped me THINK differently about my business. I have gone into this business not really knowing what I was doing, and while I still have an immense amount of learning to do, this podcast got me reflecting on what I've done with a different set of business lenses that have allowed me to see with more clarity my past mistakes. I am now correcting my errors, and when my business becomes a success, I will honestly be able to thank The Soul Of Enterprise for providing me a boost of knowledge and motivation that is allowing me to redirect my time and resources on a more effective path. Not only is their knowledge valuable, but the chemistry between the two hosts of the show makes it so much fun to listen to. These two are clearly passionate about what they are doing, and their passion makes me so eagerly await for the next episode. If you're not aware, the hosts of "The Soul Of Enterprise" have also published a book. I have been reading other business books as well, and the format of their book is exponentially more pleasurable than anything I've read thus far. The book is written in the form of a casual conversation between the two authors. This format allowed ideas to be bounced back and forth and discussed between the two authors, as opposed to having their topics merely narrated to the reader. I have read books in the past where I knew I was getting valuable insight and knowledge, but was bored to tears trying to push through them. The conversational style of writing takes the great insights they have, and put it into a format that is such a pleasure to read. Thank you Ron and Ed for putting out such a standout show in a podcasting field that has so much competition.

    Full of content, every week
Who's In Charge of Value?, especially, was such a fantastic episode on value from Ron Baker and Ed Kless on The Soul Of Enterprise. Even three years into running my own value pricing, it was good reminders and good stimulus to consider. Teaching value identification & capture to my new team is going to be one of my biggest cultural challenges.

    World Class Discussions
Fantastic show. This is a podcast that I've listened to from the start. Ron and Ed tackle some great topics and help businesses realize where their value lies. In addition to the great hosts, there are some seriously world class guests on the show, such as Rory Sutherland, Diedre McCloskey, and Thomas Sowell to name a few. Keep up the great work!
