A Wasted Opportunity on a Timely Topic
This is a very complex topic, and I appreciate the author’s attempt to distill it into a 25-minute excerpt. Like the scholars cited in the research, Robinson’s work should be given a prominent place in mid- and senior-level PME. The interviewer did a poor job of eliciting detailed answers. In fact, she sounded by turns bored or patronizing, and was either out of her depth or so inattentive that she bungled Robinson’s full name at the end. Not nearly the best episode I’ve heard, but I will check out the book.

Get an interviewer who can speak ...
... the host has a bizarre accent that sounds like Peter Sellers as "Dr. Strangelove" but to make it worse makes awful, weird grunting sounds. He also interrupts as does not give the interviewee enough time to speak. Great books, great topics but the host makes the podcast unlistenable.

I learned a lot about something I thought I was well schooled in.

    Used to be Better
This podcast used to review more military history books. These days the content seems to be suffering symptoms of the universal wokeness plague. Get better books.

    Respect to audience and speaker
Can not make it through an episode, could not count the number of times the host makes the UM-HA, noise .Even if he was suffering from Tourette syndrome , at least silence your microphone . You are presenting this to an audience, who don’t want to hear your grunting through out an interviewees respond.

    stick to the topic
Good when it’s good; but about half the time the interviewer asks, not about the advertised topic, but about the author’s career, his trouble writing the book etc etc — meta stuff. Inside baseball. Inside historiography. Please stick to the topic.

    Poor audio quality
Excellent interview very marginal audio quality to the point of being nearly incomprehensible.

I’ll give 5 stars for the effort but..
I’ll give anyone 5 stars for making the effort to bring military history to light for future generations. However this is a podcast,, it’s difficult to listen to all the A’s In the first couple of minutes you said A in between almost every other word. This is a big no no and highly distracting. I’m not trying to be mean at all! It does need to be worked on if you want the listeners to keep interested. Simply slow down or take a breath. There is no need to constantly fill air space 100%. Good luck. I’ll keep trying to listen!

    So annoying
Sound quality is terrible. The hosts are uninspired graduate students who are in it for themselves and don't care about people. The War Stories podcast episode the author was making a serious point and the sound literally became garbled at the defining moment of the point.

    Buy a microphone!
Great choice of authors to interview, but the awful recording quality and amateurish interview technique sink the podcast.

    Great discussions of interesting topics
This is a great podcast. The host interviews an author about their current book topic. Very intelligent and engaging conversations. The "New Books In" group has a bunch of podcasts covering many genres and I appreciate that they cross post interviews of similar genres. My amazon wish list has gotten much longer after listening to this podcast.
