lknightmdI didn’t know I need to know so much!I listened to a few episodes last year and now I’m stuck in a binge! So much great stuff and their chemistry is fantastic.

jonnydogGeneral review of the showEnjoy these podcasts. Move along nicely and the rapport between Josh and Chuck is entertaining as well as informative. Would have given a 5 except occasionally (very occasionally) they allow some political bias to seep into their conversation, which can be a tad annoying and, I think, takes away from an otherwise flawless performance.
-
…BuuuhMonotoneSeems like they put no emotional emphasis on this damned show
-
annoyed phillies fanYour Bias is showingUsed the be the best podcast on earth, for a long time. Lately, not so much. The subtle liberal views and Trump Derangement inserted into episodes isn’t so subtle anymore. Has it occurred to these people that half of your audience may not support your political bias?

Houdini993What about Claudette Colvin???On the latest episode, asassination of Martin Luther King Jr you made a comment early on about how Ross parks kicked off the civil rights movement. That information is incorrect. 9 months before the Rosa parks incident Claudette Colvin was forced to give up her seat on a bus. Rosa parks was just a poster child. The credit needs to go where it’s due. And Rosa parks ain’t it!!!!

CHEFBOY ROBDGreatest show everThere is comfort food, and then there is SYSK. Thanks for the company all this time, guys!
-
adams2005Podcast requestCan you do an episode on Champaign please????
-
Jaberwockey masterIt’s okYa know, if you can wade through all the biased commentary and somehow manage to put up with Josh’s lisp and Chuck’s constant wheezing into the microphone, there’s actually some pretty interesting stuff in here. Maybe one day they’ll do one about run-on sentences.

The maker guyMystery spotHi! I love your podcast and have a suggestion. You should do an episode on “mystery spot California.” If you don’t know what that is, it’s a mountain in California where supposedly gravity works differently. I’ve been there, and I was leaning like 30 degrees the whole time! Anyway, your podcast is awesome, byyyyyeeeeeee!

M00seyG00seyFantastic!In a time where fake news and misinformation are common place, these guys do a fantastic job of providing information on topics in an unbiased manner. Their intelligence and talent allow for them to provide this information in a very entertaining fashion. Could not say enough positive things about this podcast. Really appreciate it!

Jason & Kari PouliotFrom todays episode about chickensChuck and Josh, Your chicken episode was hilarious. If you think Fowler was funny, get this; I come from a long lineage of Pouliot’s, from French Quebec (we have a family crest with chickens on it) we are poultry workers…
-
jaceileeAlways Interesting and HilariousThis is the first podcast I ever listened to and it’s so awesome. It keeps me entertained even on topics I didn’t think I would care about. Josh and Chuck are entertaining and insightful.

BillyyBobThe Scribble on ScrabbleThe Simpsons: S1:Ep2 “Bart the Genius” Perfect description of a family Scrabble game. “Kwyjibo” "A big, dumb, balding North American ape with no chin", "and a short temper". Love SYSK!

AngMiKoInteresting topic, chatty banterTopics are interesting and information about it can be learned by listening. Presentation is in dialogue form between two hosts who are not experts but have researched the topic. Pretty chatty format, with tangents and banter, ironic remarks (which can be confusing), material is not always strictly scaffolded, no sound effects.
-
du heiebdkThis should be a total five star podcast.Don’t see why there are some jerks out there who gave Josh and Chuck 1 star reviews. They’re probably not cultured.

TAF1701aShow on A/D’sI give you a lot of credit for tackling such a broad & misunderstood subject. I work in a retail pharmacy and we dispense a great deal of these. But more than that I have found relief from symptoms for over 30 years of this therapy. There are many you skipped over but that’s a good thing & beyond the scope of SYSK anyway. I don’t remember hearing cautions that people should see their doctor about these afflictions as antidepressants used the wrong way (especially MAOIs) can be life-threatening. I suspect you will get nasty grams about this topic but as an expert on them I’m glad that you made an honest & respectful attempt. I would’ve added some more info on the manifestations (the professional term is indications) of physiologically-based depression and at least a disclaimer that there many, many, a very great many “companion” mental conditions and some of those are unfortunately misdiagnosed as depression. Warning: not all primary care healthcare providers are qualified to prescribe these - i.e., knowing the differences and how to monitor dosing. In my opinion, listeners need to do their own research, too, about their condition(s). Something you could add - e.g., if this episode becomes a “Selects” - is a reference to legitimate websites or hotlines designed to help people sort all this out (unless I missed it). Another winner for your catalog.

myappstorereviews123Good show terrible ads!Great podcast but they have the worst ads! Like listening to screeching fingernails on a chalkboard in the middle of the show. Why are they the only show that does it this way??
-
dc seltzerContent is getting boringI’ve been listening to these guys for a long while but the content is starting to lag behind. It feels they are sometimes just reading a Wikipedia article and commenting. Also way too many breaks for sponsors now.

OkraWhiteOne of my favoritesThe podcast is enjoyable and informative overall. Josh and Chuck seem to be really likable types and they have a good time doing the program. If one knows very little about a particular subject, this is a great place to start. As one might expect, they rely solely on reading summary articles written by others for most of their information--nothing wrong with this, but if they don't know the subject, it's easy for them to get mixed up. The boys are sometimes a bit sloppy; they mispronounce just about every non-English word/name/phrase (and they occasionally mis-state some facts—but who among us doesn’t ?—which could be confusing for someone who is not already familiar with the subject. I don’t hold that against them, because some of the subjects that they tackle can be quite technical. Still, I enjoy listening and I recommend it to someone searching for an informative and entertaining podcast about "stuff" in general. Josh and Chuck talk to us, not down to us; this is an important feature of their work. (Please keep in mind that I am not very flexible in my opinions, although I’m getting better as I age.) In general, I really, really, really like the podcast and will continue to listen as long as they continue their work.
-
gmaknuFantastic!I so enjoy the variety of quirky topics on SYSK. My reaction is usually, "wow, I never thought of that." The light banter between Josh and Chuck is fun and friendly. Thank you and keep up the good work.
-
H CharlesMostly great when they keep their politics outThis is a great regular listen and fun way to get relatively deep dives on a myriad of topics. The chemistry and banter between the hosts is a huge draw, but if you don’t appreciate it and their wanderings off topic, this show may frustrate you. Also, both are pretty liberal, and while they try to keep their political views out of the show, occasionally they percolate to the top, as they did when discussing Reagan or DC electoral votes. If you are a liberal yourself or don’t mind that slant, it’s a great podcast
-
PaleWhaleOfWYThe BestI drive a lot for work. This show is my go to podcast for the entertainment value, plus I learn new things everyday by listening. Josh and Chuck have perfect chemistry and I love their tangents and how down to earth they are.
-
SunTrustLoverA favorite for yearsI have been listening to SYSK for years and it’s a crime that I haven’t give it a review yet. This show is part of the fabric of my life at this point and has provided so much general knowledge.

ValyVeeCoca-Cola poster at the 1936 Olympics!Hi guys! I enjoy the podcast but I don’t know what website Jost is using to look up the 1936 Olympics posters with Coca-Cola but I found them immediately and there’s actually an Olympic pin you can find online so Josh get it together dude google!? Thanks for the fun info. That’s pretty bizarre about Coca-Cola and Deutschland. Keep up the good work! Cheers

Lpm74Great PodcastWhat a find! Josh and Chuck are so refreshing in their dialogue and their banter back and forth. There are no egos competing for the limelight! The episodes are interesting and cover a wide range of topics. You will love it!
-
MiathescientistGood podcastI’m only 10 but, I like this podcast. but usually, I fall asleep before the episode end.( I’ve been doing that since I was a baby). Also, you should make a hockey episode. You have over 2,000 episodes, and the best you have is a Zamboni short stuff. Don’t know many websites for research, but Inside Out 2 is pretty spot-on. Another suggestion I just thought of: Giftedness. What makes intellectually gifted people different? How does the label “gifted” affect people? What classifies as “gifted”? About how many people in the US are gifted?

Salem NyxWas one of the best, but…Unfortunately the amount of ads has gotten out of control. It has ruined what was a good, fun, informative podcast.

sullivan_etcThe quality of research variesI loved this podcast until they did an episode on one topic that I’m already knowledgeable about. When I listened to their homeschooling episode, I was shocked to hear it described in only neutral-to-positive terms. Homeschooling can be done in a way that is beneficial for the child, that’s true. But homeschooling is loosely regulated, and children mostly aren’t required to come into contact with mandatory reporters. Abuse and neglect (educational, medical, and otherwise) are rampant in homeschool communities, especially fundamentalist religious ones. The state often doesn’t even know some of these kids exist (two of my friends were home births and didn’t get a birth certificate until they were 7 and 8). With regards to history, the hosts failed to mention that a major part of the rise of homeschooling in the 70s-80s was white flight following desegregation. Homeschooling is largely a right-wing phenomenon, with a lot of parents pulling their children out of schools to avoid “indoctrination” or “lies” like evolution. I know the hosts have a researcher but it’s impossible to do quality research when you’re putting out this volume of episodes, but this episode soured the show for me. This info isn’t niche by any means, and I can’t really trust what I hear on the show anymore. Source: I was homeschooled, also The Coalition for Responsible Home Education, Homeschool’s Invisible Children, and the John Oliver segment on homeschooling

douglasbaker525TranscriptsNow I know this probably isn’t your fault, but it makes me sad that the transcript isn’t allowed on your newest episode. I love reading it while listening! It helps me remember so much from the episode, also just wanted to let you know that my uncles and I have been listening to your podcast for 2 years now! We love it so much. From Douglas Baker

RedrdkingDandelionsMy aunt and uncle started a winery in Dover, Ohio 40 years ago. It’s the gateway to Amish country, so it’s considered Amish Country wine. Anyways, they always have made a dandelion wine which they add honey to so it’s the sweetest wine they make. It definitely takes the bitterness away. Just a little tidbit for you.

CeeEhhEssFacts OptionalThese guys act like authorities but cannot get through a single show without major factual mistakes, embarrassing mispronunciations, and swirling into woke indoctrination. The show DRAGS with them talking about themselves but congrats, Comrades, because you’ve been around long enough to make this your day job, you’ve convinced millions of people that you are sharing true tales, and you spread your propaganda in a cute & gosh-darn folksy way. Who needs fact when you can be manipulated instead.
-
kachensLazy storytellingThey can’t even be bothered to have narrative flow. Sounds like I’m trying to tell my friends about a lecture I half-listened to ten years ago.
-
lahlah408408Too many errorsI used to find the misstatements and errors somewhat funny and charming, but it’s just too sloppy.

sensei edLifeboatLifeboat idea is great and the movie “lifeboat”is a great example of the tragedy of the commons. One of Hitchcock’s early pieces.
-
Hughes225Really goodThese are a well presented fun/light discussion on all kinds of things from history to science. If you are interested in the topic, give it a listen.

MicosivechGotta boycottAds for Zyn on a show that is otherwise family friendly and wholesome isn’t cool.

PopTaco24Love the show, hate the new tobacco adsThis is a show I often enjoy listening to with my child. It’s really disappointing to suddenly hear a tobacco ad at every commercial break. The cheery, upbeat voice and frequency of the ad serve to normalize the use of smokeless tobacco which is not something I want for my kid. I understand podcasters don’t always have control over ad choices, but It would be great if you could switch it out. It’s not a great fit for a family-friendly show. Thanks.
