I echo the other reviewer who says nothing comes close to the genius that was Londonist Out Loud. Such a delight. 192 episodes aren’t enough.

Taking a moment to post an update just to say, it's been 2 years and I still miss this podcast so much! Nothing has come along to replace it. ================= I have been enjoying this podcast for a couple of years and it has been a real pleasure even though I don’t even live in London (I live in California). Woolf has a knack for finding unusual, off-the-beaten path destinations: the Horniman Museum, a “ragged school” (who knew?), a make-your-own gin bar, the Brunel Museum, etc. He does an excellent job being the listener’s eyes and asking the questions the listener would ask. He also has a knack for finding enthusiastic, engaging guests and does not get in their way when they are answering his questions. My favorite episode ever was with a tour guide through the Jewish East End. I followed along on Google Street View and it was *almost* as good as being there. 5 stars!

I moved to London two years ago and this podcast has been an incredible companion as I become a Londoner. The host is funny, intelligent, curious and the podcast provides nods to the past and a fascination with the direction of London's evolution.

This is a great way to get an idea of places to visit while in London. Some of the locations may not be obvious to the wide-eyed tourist or even the seasoned resident. You can tell that Woolf throughly researches each destination in advance, so he skips past the obvious questions that the uninformed one would ask, enabling him to delve deeper into the interview with simple, yet more poignant questions. He also has the keen ability to get people to talk, and the tack not to interrupt while they speak, making the listener feel more like they are being spoken directly to by the interviewee, rather than eavesdropping on a conversation.
